Kipos Taverna — Restaurant in Municipality of Messini

Lovely food!

After we tried several taverns, from Kalamata to Koroni and Methoni (and also many taverns all over Greece) we've decided to maily stick to Kypos while we're holidaying in Chrani (and this is the third year). We haven't found any other place where we like everything they're making.

It's a family tavern, with traditional Greek food, cooked by a "Greek mother", with quality products, some of which are grown by them.

We mainly order takeout, for we have a great private terrace where we're staying, so we like eating there, but we also ate there in the past, in the garden, and we loved it. There are lots of trees and shaddow, and there's peace and quiet, with a low backgroud music.

The food is VERY tasty and the portions are really large; the prices are good. They have a fantastic grilled octopus, very, very tender and tasty, with absolutely no rubbery feel to it. Our favourites (and what we order repeatedly) so far are: • the seafood - octopus, shrimps, squid, anchovies • vegan - fried potatoes, giant beans, gemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes), Garden's salad, Greek salad without feta. • meat: souvlaki, lamb chops • Greek salad •...

We had dinner at Kipos Taverna with our kids. We ordered pork souvlaki — it felt more like Cypriot style, a bit dry and not very juicy. The beef fillet was juicy and tasty. The beef steak was drier. They didn’t ask about the doneness, which was disappointing — it could have been more tender. My wife had the lavraki — she liked it, though it was just a regular grilled fish. We ordered fried zucchini — they were too oily. The kids had fried cheese — it was tasty but very oily, and we had to blot the oil with a napkin. Overall, we liked the fried cheese and souvlaki in the nearby place better. We did enjoy the complimentary dessert — four scoops...

Ένας κρυμμένος προορισμός «διαμάντι» στους Χράνους που δεν απογοητεύει ποτέ. Για χρόνια αποτελεί σταθερή αξία και την αγαπημένη μας επιλογή, καθώς κάθε επίσκεψη είναι μια γαστρονομική εμπειρία που αξίζει να ζήσεις. Σπιτικά μαμαδίστικα μαγειρευτά, κρεατικά εξαιρετικής ποιότητας, ζουμερά και καλοψημένα στα κάρβουνα, και τα θαλασσινά πάντα φρέσκα και μαγειρεμένα με μεράκι. Από τις λίγες ταβέρνες που στέκεται αντάξια σε απαιτήσεις τόσο σε κρεατικά όσο και θαλασσινά. Ο,τι και να επιλέξουμε από το μενού, είναι πάντα πεντανόστιμο και φτιαγμένο με αγάπη. Ποιότητα και νοστιμιά στο μεγαλείο τους. Και ο άνθρωπος πίσω από όλα, ο Γιάννης, είναι ένας άνθρωπος που δεν αφήνει τίποτα στην τύχη. Φροντίζει προσωπικά κάθε πιάτο και κάθε λεπτομέρεια, εξασφαλίζοντας ότι η ποιότητα παραμένει αμετάβλητη στο πέρασμα του χρόνου. Η φιλοξενία και το μεράκι του είναι αυτά που μας κάνουν να επιστρέφουμε...
