Awful experience. Trashy place that pumps up teenagers and arab music all day long, no way to relax with overpricing for everything and the quality and service being average. But the most negative aspect was the dishonest way of communicating prices for sunbeds rent. They ask you to book in advance through the website and charge you for each bed 50€. The catch is that in addition to the pre-payment, there is an additional charge per person which is not communicated anywhere, except the day upon arrival. An extra fee for each person of the reservation which is fixed based on the period of the year (high or low season). The rationale of that, they say, is to prevent having vacant beds for costumers who had not show up particularly during high season. The problem is that even in case of non-attendance, due to not cancelling in time the reservation, the prepaid amount is withheld and that money is lost. Therefore, they are not losing anything from costumers not showing up and that extra fee does not serve the purpose of preventing losing money from possible call offs. It is not a problem related to pricing, an exclusive beach club is legitimately expected to cost more. It’s a dishonest strategy to trick rich costumers, who do not care to pay extra 30/50 € unless it’s an exclusive club with exclusive people, to get extra incomes with the excuse of the high demand during high season. It would have been more just to disclose the entire cost for the beach beds on the website during the...
Read moreWhile this is a beautiful beach club, the prices are outrageous. We booked with a deposit of $50 per person. I already thought that was over the top as there were 13 in our party, 6 of which underage and not drinking alcohol. Since we had lunch reservations as well, I thought ok, that will put us over the initial $50 per person. Little did I know that JUST the sunbed was $65 per person! We had drinks, water and fruit and left our tab open at the beach while we went to have lunch. Restaurant prices over the top as well. A glass of wine $15, very reasonable, so we thought we'd get the bottle instead. The bottle was $86. That does not add up at all. Server said the bottle is 6 glasses. Since when? After a ridiculously expensive lunch, which was fine, beautiful restaurant, good food and good service but not worth the elevated price; we return to beach to pay our tab there as we decided to leave. Shocked to find our bill at over $1200. Some water, fruit, 7 cocktails? $65 a bed for what? A view of the yachts that pull up to show off and the dirt or bark or whatever it was flying around into our drinks. 2 days later, we went to a beach club at Elia and it was fabulous. $40 for TWO beds and the service and food/drinks wonderful. Solymar is a tourist trap. Recommended and booked by our concierge. My fault I suppose for not researching. I wondered why she recommended us to a club at another beach rather than the one right down the path from the house we...
Read moreWe arrived as a party of five. We were greeted nicely enough. The hostess took us to our second row seats when about 3/4 of the front row was open. I asked if we could go to the first row and was told these were our seats. They also looked extremely inconvenienced that we were a party of five. They put a chair in between a set of pairs which is fine or suggested they put one perpendicular to a pair of chairs. Once I started questioning where they were putting us the female hostess left and a male with a red cap was sent in to handle us. I was confused because we were under the impression if we were there by 11:30 it would be a first come first serve selection of seats. People that arrived later than us were ushered to the front including people with strollers, so it was hard to figure out their logic for where people sat. Iris, our waitress, was great and the food was good. We ate lunch at the restaurant and the music was so loud that you couldn’t speak at the table, but the service and food was good. There is a helicopter pad right by the beach so that was loud and disruptive. The beach umbrellas are small and really only cover one chair, but I guess you are at a beach club for the sun, so don’t expect much coverage. Also, only one umbrella for two chairs so if you are an odd numbered party-one person will not have coverage. At the end of the day they did move around the chairs to create more coverage. Save money and go...
