This restaurant is a solid choice if you’re looking for quality seafood. We visited twice and tried different dishes on each occasion — all of them were consistently good. The location is excellent, with a pleasant atmosphere right next to the lively city streets and the ocean. Service was, for the most part, very good, although a few staff members seemed a bit too rushed. Even when it’s busy, there’s no need to make guests feel as though everything is being hurried along. Prices are fairly standard, though they do lean slightly toward the higher side. The main drawback, and the reason I’m deducting one extra star, is the automatic inclusion of bread and water that you don’t request but still get charged for. Either it should be complimentary, or the customer should be asked beforehand. Being billed 3€ for something unsolicited feels unfair. While I understand this might be “the norm,” many other restaurants choose not to follow this practice. Waiting times were - as they are in all of Greece - quite long, so don’t arrive on an...
Read moreWe went for a dinner on our first night on the island, upon the recommendation of our hotel, without checking reviews. Good eggplant salat and cacık but unfortunately very undercooked seafood. Shrimps were raw, their skin wouldn't peel, grilled octopus was rather undercooked in water, hardly any signs of grill, hard to cut with a knife let alone chewing. I believe the frying oil for the fish was quite matured. The service was unfortunately worse. Cold starters, warm starters and main dishes arrived almost simultaneously in about 6-7 minutes upon ordering, which potentially explains the undercooking. No ashtray until asked for, no napkins on the table, unfriendly service almost throwing plates on the table. They were crowded and the staff were in haste, yet I still believe the true reason was that they were understaffed. Complementary, delicious water melon in the end doesn't cut it unfortunately. You would probably get better food and better service...
Read moreI have been coming to the Taverna Apolafsi for the last six or seven years that I have been coming to Plomari Greece. I have gone to pretty much every restaurant on the island. I have never been disappointed at Taverna Apolafsi. In the last few years, I have had friends from the states come to visit Greece with me. This is always our staple restaurant to visit. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is impeccable. The owner is a hard-working lady who runs it with her son. She goes out of her way to make sure every single one of her customers is satisfied. We wish them much success for many more years to come And we will always be frequent patrons of this beautiful well run...
