Mousiko Kafeneio — Restaurant in Municipality of Mytilene

We came here every morning for breakfast since it was the place our hotel was partnered with. Overall, the ambiance and location are very nice, but the service is quite weak. Everything comes very slowly, and the food we ordered doesn’t look like it does in the pictures. For example, while expecting bread with avocado spread and tomato on top, what we got was avocado on the side with a separate tomato toast. The coffee is quite bitter, so you might want to consider alternatives, but the atmosphere itself is beautiful. When having breakfast, any extra item you request either doesn’t arrive or comes close to the end of breakfast time, so it’s better to order everything at once—though it will still come late. Last weekend, during our stay at Issa Lesvos Hotel with my son, we came to Mousiko Kafeneio for breakfast two days in a row.The hotel provided us with a breakfast card worth €10 per person to be used here.The ambiance of the place is truly captivating — decorated with artistic touches, a spacious atmosphere, and well-curated music, it provided a delightful experience.

The presentation is elegant, served on aesthetically pleasing plates, and the staff are generally friendly. However, with a few improvements, it could become even better:

– It was surprising to see that olives — such a local staple — were almost absent from the breakfast plate. The "olive paste" option came with just four olives; this could definitely be increased. – The bread on the plate wasn't fresh; offering a basket of fresh bread would be a welcome touch. – The amount of cheese was below expectations. – While on the first day we were served a chilled pitcher of water, on the second day we only received a single glass of lukewarm water each, and no further service for quite a while — which was slightly disappointing.

Overall, it’s a lovely breakfast spot. With a few thoughtful touches, it has the potential to be truly exceptional.

Geçtiğimiz hafta sonu Midilli’de oğlumla birlikte kaldığımız Issa Lesvos oteli aracılığıyla, kahvaltı için iki gün üst üste Mousiko Kafeneio’ya geldik. Otel tarafından, kişi başı 10 Euro tutarında geçerli olacak şekilde kart verildi. Mekanın ambiyansı gerçekten büyüleyici; sanatsal detaylarla bezenmiş dekorasyonu, ferah atmosferi ve özenle seçilmiş müzikleriyle çok hoş bir deneyim yaşattı.

Sunumlar estetik tabaklarda servis ediliyor, çalışanlar da genel olarak güleryüzlü. Ancak birkaç küçük dokunuşla çok daha keyifli bir yer olabilir:

– Kahvaltı menüsünde zeytin gibi yerel bir ürünün neredeyse hiç yer almaması şaşırtıcıydı; zeytin ezmeli seçeneğin yanında sadece dört adet zeytin vardı, miktar artırılabilir. – Tabaktaki ekmek taze değildi; bir sepette taze ekmek sunulması çok daha hoş olabilir. – Menüdeki peynir miktarı beklentinin biraz altındaydı. – İlk gün buz gibi su sürahisi getirilmişken, ikinci gün sadece birer bardak ılık su verilmesi ve sonrasında uzun süre servis yapılmaması biraz rahatsız ediciydi.

A very nice and hospitable cafe, which serves a truly excellent breakfast for people like me, coming off the ferry tired and hungry. Most ingredients are from the island itself. Staff is happy to tell you all about the provenance. The bread is fresh and crunchy, too. In the afternoon, I had a good local white wine here as well. Add to this the relaxed atmosphere and the nice decoration with old gramophones etc and I would say Mousiko Kafeneio is the perfect spot for any visitor...
