First time in Naxos and we had already heard of the place as the go-to place for the Greek desert of Galaktompoureko. Both my wife and I are Greek, having tasted a number of variations throughout Greece, agreed that it is the best we have ever tasted. Family run, with the essence that many places in the mainland have lost, the air of village, community and love being an ingredient of everything served, be it food or beverage. The reason I am reviewing in English is to let those tourists, that visit Greece or Naxos for the first time, experience a prime example of Greek Food and Dessert, tucked away in a discrete village, lost between the mountains of the largest island of the Cyclades. Loved Naxos, as we visited for the first time, but I also loved Mrs Aikaterini Galani, her sister, their children and their grandchildren. Mrs Aikaterini holds the secret recipe to this top notch rendition of the Galaktompoureko, only available to cook when she is there. The reason it can't be copied, I personally believe, is her unique approach to life, love and cooking. I hope it is passed down, for humanity would be at a...

I politely asked if they could change it, and the response was a blunt and rather rude “No, we can’t change it. You have to eat this.” On top of that, the waiters didn’t seem particularly welcoming either — most of them looked like they didn’t want to be there at all.
So, to sum it up: good food, but be very careful what you order, because they won’t let you change it if...
Read moreThe menu is short but sweet and superb. I don’t think anything would be a disappointment on this menu. We ordered black eye bean salad with Naxos cheese, baked eggplant, baked feta and OMG it was amazing. We also had the gelato bureko and fresh home made sour cherry juice. The atmosphere is beautiful with hanging fresh grapes above and the service sensational. Very welcoming, warm and hospitable. It rained earlier and the waiter was so kind he provided us with dry cushions for our seats. He was lovely and charming. Thank you for a...
