I don’t have anything good to say for this tavern. The service was bad and they were rude with us. I went with my 8 months baby and my mother to eat and had to wait for 40 minutes as they told us as we can’t book from before. At the end instead of placing us on the table they placed someone els telling us that he was first with his son which is not true as one of the waitresses told us that he remembered us but the other waitresses ignored completely his words and we had to wait a little bit more. After ten minutes we thought that it was our time to sit finally holding my baby and being already tired but instead of us they placed someone els that they said he was before from us and he was waiting from an other side which was not true again because we saw from before that no one was waiting from the other side of the tavern. All this was a disaster and felt that they did not respect my baby and my mother 63 years old and they never apologised. when I expressed my anger they just ignored me… After spending one hour standing and holding my baby I felt that l had to leave rather than just waiting more… I also chatted with a company which they where sitting there for one hour and they where still not being served and they were thinking to leave also. I do not recommend...
Read moreAweful experience, unfortunately not a good food either and expensive for what it was... We went there because we read positive comments, however the experience was ruined by a low quality food and the presence of too many animals (wasps and cats). In terms of food, we have ordered roasted chiken, village sausage and a salad. All was extra oily and of a mediocre quality... It seems that pork stewed is good but we did not take that, because we saw other tables litteraly fighting with wasps that covered their plates. It is only when we complained to the waitress that she said she would bring a kind of smoke to make the wasps away. Although she had seen us and other tables struggling with the wasps (one of them actually had to stand up and eat her lunch while walking in the restaurant ), but the waitress didn't care to bring the smoke before we asked... We understand that in this season wasps are hungry but the restaurant staff and manager do not care about their customers. Anyway, it was the most disappointing memory of our trip to Greece, in terms of food and experience, and next time we won't return to this place and don't...
Read moreVery pretty traditional tavern in Chalki. We came here for lunch and got a table after a small 5 minutes wait. The service is a bit slow, but we heard that things work at their own slow pace here in the villages of Greece. The setting were so pretty though that we wouldn't complain having to wait - you just get to sit back and admire everything. The food was decent - we ordered the Halki special (really good traditional Greek meet dish) and Briam (roasted vegetables which seemed a little too oily for my taste) and the house wine (not very good). The Halki special was a little on the pricey side but overall pretty decent price to value for the meal. Its right on the main street alongside a few boutique stores and the kitron distillery so hard to miss. Also given the very limited food options in Halki this might just be your best bet for a wholesome and hearty meal. You'll get the real Greek taverna feel here, both for food and atmosphere so do give it a try...
