I came to Apollonas on a day trip from Chora. Just before I boarded the tour bus, I bought a piece of karidopita ( walnut cake ) from a cafe in Chora. This walnut cake looked very appetising and I mentioned it to the cashier as I was paying for the cake. I told the lady cashier that I was going to Apollonas and she suggested that I should visit her mum's cafe there called La Sabbia. It was her mum who baked the walnut cake.
So when I arrived in La Sabbia at lunch time, I looked out for La Sabbia. I was really glad that I went there for lunch. It wasn't a restaurant and it served mainly cafe food but it was tasty! I ordered a chicken crepe with cheese, mushroom and corn. The serving size was huge and the crepe was generously filled with all the above-mentioned ingredients. The couple who run the cafe were super friendly and full of smiles. I informed the lady owner that I had met her daughter this morning in Chora and she was very pleased.
Guests are often given complimentary desserts here. The proprietress served us a piece of portokalopita ( orange cake ) after we finished our crepes. I even took a photo with her! She certainly bakes delicious cakes!
So if you are in Apollonas and would like a bite, do pop into La Sabbia and I guarantee you that you will be well...
Read moreThey said to come to Apollonas for the fresh fish. However, I found this not to be the case when I discovered La Sabbia. The desserts here are unfathomably mouthwatering. From the furit salads topped with honey and ice cream, to the loukumades (a sort of Greek donut). Not a single dessert I tasted here was short of a five star review. The service is impeccable as well. As for the view, you are situated a couple of meters from the beginning of the beach. If you happen to stop by the quaint little town, you cannot miss this...

We decided to try and the Food was very good and not expensive for the amount of food. Recommend this place if you visiting the ‘Kouros’ or even passing by… definitely not...
