We advise you to avoid staying here. We had a very bad experience with this family company. ||||When booking, they assured us that the room was large enough for two people with minimal luggage for a week. Our ferry arrived at 3 am but they would not consider offering the room for the remainder of the night, despite our booking for an extended stay. ||||On a positive note, a van was there to pick us up from the ferry and the driver, Nikitas Prasinos, dropped us at the room. There was no conversation, even though one of us is Greek. ||||When shown the room, it was clear it was much smaller than shown in advertising. This was denied by the owner, who said it actually is larger than the advertised pictures. There was no space for two small suitcases, so one had to go on the balcony overnight. The room was a small white box without decoration, occupied almost entirely by the bed and very little wardrobe space. When asked, the owner said the tap water is undrinkable, but there was no water in the fridge. On request, the owner went to find a bottle. ||||After waking in the morning, and considering the cramped conditions and uncomfortable bed, we arranged to stay at alternative accommodation. After three failed attempts to ring the owner, we sent a text message on his cell phone telling him that we would vacate the room at 10 am and that we intended to pay the cancellation fee. We packed and moved out, aware that our down-payment covered the occupation of the room for that night, and that the cancellation policy involved paying half rates for the remaining booked nights. ||||From that afternoon, we received a series of angry and threatening phone calls and texts demanding immediate payment, despite the fact that there was no time-frame for payment mentioned in the listed conditions. ||||After a series of tense phone calls, during which we stated multiple times that we would pay the fee, but within a few days, we requested they don't ring again. We soon got a text message threatening to take the matter to the coastguard/police if it wasn't paid within the next hour. ||||The attitude of the owner, Nikitas Prasinos, was almost uniformly one that minimised his responsibility to provide good service, denied any suggestion that he failed to offer such service, and then demanding immediate payment when we, as customers, chose to take our custom elsewhere. ||||The conflict with this company severely compromised the first days of our stay on Schinoussa. Such people have no idea of how to treat their clients and we predict they will respond to our comments by denying them or minimizing them. Their attitude towards visitors to the island risks compromising the efforts of others to make Schinoussa a destination of choice for tourists. ||||We strongly recommend you avoid staying with Meltemi Pension on Schinoussa. ||||Prof. John Begg & Dr Vasiliki...

Read moreWe booked accommodation at Meltemi for September 2022 having enjoyed our previous stay approximately 2 years ago.|| We then received an email from a Mr Nikitas requesting our credit card details for a deposit. I am not keen on sharing my credit card details in an email therefore I telephoned Mr Nikitas with the details.||On our departure on 21st September I paid the ladies at Meltemi. I was surprised that Mr Nikitas had debited my credit card for 200 Euros on 24th September.||I immediately telephoned him and he said it was a mistake and said he would arrange a refund. I accepted that it was a mistake and would wait for the refund.||We exchanged a number of emails and promises of a refund, including a suggestion that I give him my UK Bank details so that he could send the money there. Obviously this was completely out of the question to submit my bank details to an email. No refund was forthcoming and on 19th October I advised him that I would refer the matter to the credit card disputes department. After I supplied the credit card company with copies of the emails, I received a refund from the credit card company. This was on 24th October.||I understand that Mr Nikitas is from the same family as the ladies whom I was dealing with at Meltemi's but his attitude is not helping customer relations with the Meltemi business.||Our stay at Meltemi Pension was very pleasant and the...
