The bad reviews I cannot for the life of me understand. The view and space are the most spectacular, lazy, epic, photo-worthy, comfortable, etc etc in the area. We have come here for six years and the view, while all of that, may be the least of its wonderful features. This is where you go when you’ve been on the beach for five hours and you need to play some cards, get treated like family, drink some house rose, enjoy how lucky you are, and eat delicious home cooked food. Walk through the kitchen and you’ll see the grandparents actually cutting tomatoes for your salad, and grilling your fish, and washing your dishes. The host knows us immediately every year and couldn’t be happier to see us. All of the food is dynamite and I feel at the end of the afternoon as though I’ve gotten a massage and a ton of love. I am only thinking that some people may be in a really big hurry? Or want to speak English SUPER LOUDLY because there’s a very slight language barrier that is completely managed through smiles and laughter? I have no idea, but if you want to just chill and soak up the love, this is your place. One of my very favorite places in Greece (we come to Naxos specifically to say hi!), which is really...
Read moreWe arrived latish. The old guy who served us (owner I believe) was drunk and asked questions about why I didn’t want a bigger meal than a salad but couldnt understand my answer when I repeatedly said I’d had a large lunch. He then went to the kitchen, there was yelling for about 20 mins, a woman came out and was pointing at us yelling at the man, he then pointed at us yelling... we just wanted a light salad, it took 30+ mins. The food came, and it was surprisingly not bad. Then cats and kittens came they seemed pretty hungry so we gave them a little food secretively while the drunk owner would shoo them off. I ate fast as I was getting attacked by bugs, my partner paid, it took a while with the old guy coming and going. Turns out he couldn’t do the math for 2 salads and a water. He ended up scribbling something on paper, she paid a 17€ (about 5€ more than the cost) and we left... the cats chased us and I fed the some of the tuna I grabbed on the way...
Read moreDo not go to this taverna! All the bad reviews that I read are absolutely true. The good reviews.. maybe they were paid or something. There is shouting, screaming, and dirt. Our water glasses were so dirty, it felt like 10 other people drank 5 drinks each from them before us. The old lady was quite nice to us, but just because she wanted to hook me and my girl friend up with some friends. Anyway, we said let’s order something really basic - Dakos salad. Everyone who knows the Dakos salad knows that the bread should be dipped in olive oil, but here, guess what, it was dipped in water. Olives were also disgusting. We asked a waiter from another restaurant what’s the deal with them. He is a local and he said: “NOooo way you ate there!!!! They are extremely greedy and honestly I’m surprised you are here now and didn t get food poisoning.” He saw their meat storage and he said that he has no words to describe what’s there, so I would avoid it...
