Baratin — Restaurant in Municipality of Nea Philadelfia - Nea Chalkidona

There were some nice things about the place and some kinda negative. We went there for brunch and sat in the back space which was very cozy and not as crowded as the front or the inside of the place. We went on Sunday so it was normal that the service would be slower but they didn't really tell us that would have to wait that much in order to eat. At least we got our coffee and some cookies fairly fast. The coffee was good. Then came the food. We ordered : A Club Sandwich, a Croque Monsieur, a Savoury Dutch Pancake and a Lemon Curd Dutch Pancake. All of them were quite disappointing for the high price. The Club Sandwich was 10€ and although it was quite huge it was not worth the money (you can't go wrong with Club Sandwich, but this one was just not worth 10€), Croque Monsieur was not worth the money as well. And the two Dutch Pancakes were a disappointment. The savoury one had no taste (I think they forgot to put salt, pepper and any type of spice to make it at least have some taste), the salmon was mashed and really wasn't the most pleasurable thing to eat,and generally though the dish looked nice it didn't taste nice. The Lemon Curd Dutch Pancake I got was okeish but I might be biased because I like lemons. Still it was way too sweet, and by the time our food came the ice cream had already melted. Most probably one of the best all around coffee shops in Nea Filadelfeia. Nice and cozy decoration with warm atmosphere and different long and short tables for all kind of different number of groups visiting. Staff is helpful and attentive all the time, without disturbing. Pastries, breakfast, brunch and main courses with salad are superb. However, it will be rather miraculous if a non smoker can stand the atmosphere for more than an hour! Although air freshers and air conditioning exists, it seems that it never works to fresh the air and take the smoke away. I left much earlier than expected due to smoke and I hardly believe that I can visit it again as it seems that there is low to none respect for no smoking customers. Wifi access has to be redesigned as it was rather poor. So...

We booked a table just by seeing the menu. Many choices but the ones we made, didn't pay off. The waitress didn't know which coffee was for whom, which one had brown sugar and which one was decaf. We were four people, so 4 different food choices. All were without salt and flavor. Mine, chicken club sandwich, was very impressive in the eye but only texture when you grabbed a bite. Not even extra salt didn't make a difference. We asked for hot sauce/Sriracha: nothing. Not gonna go again. After we left, checked all the bad reviews in here.
