Food was good and this was the only good thing in this restaurant :)
The climate is weird because the owner is shouting at every employee and they are running in panic. There seems to be some show (live cooking) but the atmosphere is strange.
You receive bread you don't want and even if you refuse they will bring it nevertheless. There are no drinks in menu so that you don't know how much you will pay for the drinks.
Some young boys are involved in this cheating thing - they insist on ordering tzatziki or Greek salad after you ordered everything and you don't want anything else.
In the end if you want to pay and the owner is busy with other customers he tries to catch, he just ignores you and you have to wait.
Then the owner calculates your bill out of head, he adds things you didn't order and you pay some amount of money out of the blue. We paid about 20 euros more than on average in other restaurants in the village.
The food was good but we felt cheated and I felt kids were involved in this...
Read moreWent here 2 years ago, so maybe things have changed but when I went, we arrived at 6pm and I only ordered Pasta, which didnt come until 8pm. The Owner had his small children running around bringing food to the tables and the 'homemade beer' was just him mixing different cans of popular beers together. I would not recommend this place although with a few small changes such as attention to hygiene, meal preparation and maybe hiring actual servers rather than child labour, this place could absolutely be a 5 star restaurant. The price might scare some, and the pasta I waited 2 hours for was subpar, but maybe they have improved since...
Read moreWow wow wow! Best food all holiday! We ate here for dinner yesterday evening and it was absolutely superb. The best food we have had in Corfu.
The taverna is traditional in the old part of Acharavi just down a side street off the main road. It wasn’t really busy or touristy which was lovely! We had fresh oven baked flat bread with the best tzatziki we’ve ever had. So creamy and it was fantastic to have homemade tzatziki not shop bought like in a lot of places! For our main we had grilled local vegetables, a mixed grill and fish. The fish was absolutely delicious and the mix grill was too. The family who run the taverna were so warm and inviting. We just don’t understand the negative reviews, if you want cheap and cheerful frozen food go elsewhere. If you want delicious fresh food at appropriate pricing then go to Ta Rebetika. You won’t be disappointed. We will definitely...
