We went to Kokoras with little to none expectations as it was one of the very few Italian restaurants in the wider surrounding area after our visit to the Divari beach. We love pasta and Italian food in general, and we visit Italian restaurants often. If you love pasta, you should most definitely visit Kokoras (Fatto con Gusto) ! The linguini carbonara I had was very tasty and the sauce was well balanced, with lots and lots of meat to go with (not the original Italian guanciale, but very suitable for the recipe choice of pork meat). The arrabiata, my wife's choice was also great but a little more on the spicy side than the average arrabiata here in Greece. She enjoyed every bit of it though! Last but not least, we wanted some dessert and we kindly asked our waiter. We wanted the chocolate souffle, which as we were informed was made fresh on the spot and that it would be 10-15 minutes to be ready, we said ok and we're glad we did. The souffle was awesome, truly fresh made, and the ice cream that accompanied it was of high quality, Italian style gelato. The service was very good and all the staff was very polite and professional. The prices were very reasonable and the quality and quantity of the food was also very good. All in all a very pleasant lunch by the sea at Pylos....
Read moreDespite the food quality, which is average to good, one goes to a restaurant for spent some time a receive a positive experience. This was not our case ! FACT 1: We asked for the table in the corner ,which was free, with no reservation sign on it, and they refused by saying it was reserved. We accepted that and had another table. We spent 2,5 hours, the restaurant went to empty of customers, no one visited that "reserved" table! FACT 2: It was suggested ( amongst others indeed, a local beer. Actually, I always try to taste local beers. However, the presented to me as a local one ( from the Gialova area) it was produced about 650 km away from a factory at Larissa, and the distributor was only local. Those small details, I believe, are enough to make your experience neutral to negative. If they lie to small thinks, who can guarantee for other important matters which can not be seen by the customer? Fact 3:Due to a technical issue the entrance door had, cold air entered the room from outside, making our stay not much pleasant. Anyhow, it's a pity to that nice area, and the well settled in terms of environment restaurant, the personal to don't be as reliable as it was expected with their customers. Hope they will rectify the...
Read moreFirst of all, a trattoria that has the oven off during lunchtime with at least 30 min. to wait for a pizza it's dubious. So we went for pasta. It's call trattoria and the pasta is not house-made at all. 3rd, we asked 3 different plates, ALL THE SAME PASTA: one added olives and Feta and become Greek pasta; the other they add bacon and cheese and become a "grated pasta". I seriously think the chef didn't come to work, can't think of another reasonably explanation. 4th, they didn't have small beers. Last but not least, service was like the guy lived still with his parents and had to work. AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you want to risk for the pizza...I wouldn't. They just profit of being frontline to the bay. The sight is beautiful (that explains the...
