Some of the dishes were delicious like the white fish roe salad, the grilled shrimps, the talagani with the marmalade and fava beans that assorted the octopus. The octopus was highly recommended by the most senior member of the staff and since it was relatively expensive I thought it would have been fresh and worth to have. Unfortunately it was pre-boiled with lots of vinegar as it was actually frozen. Bad choice and unhappy being directed to have the most expensive dish on the menu. This is an attitude of a a touristy restaurant that I wasn't expecting from this one. But I think the most disturbing was that when I visited in person in the afternoon to arrange for a dinner table the same senior member of the staff was totally inflexible and unhappy to give me the table I requested claiming that it would be a very busy night and he didn't want to block this. Like I wouldn't pay for it or I wasn't worth it. He insisted on having a small table next to the car park. After an unnecessary negotiation he accepted the customer's request! Overall a good restaurant that puts its reputation in risk because of...
Read moreWe read the reviews and expected a very nice meal... but ended up disappointed. Modon is a tourist restaurant. The food is borderline tasteless. Had tzatziki, which had a generic taste. Pretty sure it was a cheap store bought tzatziki or a poorly made one. Salad was just things thrown in a bowl. Some cold, some warm... it was a bad combination and a bad result. Burgers had no taste. We tried to improve them with some salt but not much achieved. They did not serve fries. In a Greek tavern! They told us they only serve oven potatoes. First of all, a Greek tavern without fries, is not a Greek tavern. To me it is simply outrageous, especially since they have the best olive oil produced in the area. Secondly, the oven potatoes came in a tiny small portion and were tasteless as well. The service was good and they did offer fruit at the end. We paid 70 euros (with tip) for three people. We got two burgers, a salad, a pork steak, tzatziki, potatoes and beer. Not recommended, unfortunately... unless you have...
Read moreI'm very mixed about this place, the food is very good for the price (which was very good - 5.5 EUR for a Greek salad as a comparator), I had a range of starters and the calamari which was succulent, melt in the mouth and very tasty. My issue was being charged in US dollars. I'm from the UK with a Euro/revolut card and explicitly said 3 times to charge in Euros, if I had been using a normal UK card I would have been hammered with a 3 euro fee for the EUR to USD conversion plus a bad exchange rate plus fees (around £2.99 I think) for the USD to GBP exchange conversion. I did complain and the staff were very nice and did attempt to reverse it and charge me in Euros, we'll see if that works out though as at the moment I've paid twice - once on USD and once on EUR as apparently changes go straight away and refunds take up to a week to come through (Fe**ing banks).;anyway food is nice but watch out for the currency scam when paying and if you're a Greek restaurant owner charge...
