The worst dining experience we have had in Crete this far. There were no seats so we attempted to sit at a table with more chairs and were told we could not because we did not have at least 5 people for that table. We happily went to another table they cleaned off though. About 20 minutes later, they sat 2 people at that same table, no one else joined them. It took at least an hour to get our food, which consisted of just meat and potatoes, nothing fancy. Not to mention they charged us full price for a menu item they did not have. We asked for the lemon chicken, and they came back minutes later saying they didn't have that item, and as the menu is not extensive I just asked for plain grilled chicken. It was in the afternoon so it was surprising they ran out of the ingredients before dinner. The waiters acted like nothing out of the ordinary to wait that long for food. The food itself was just mediocre, the beef patties were burnt, and we paid at least 30 euro which is on the pricey side for a meal we weren't that satisfied with. The food is simply outstanding. Be sure to ask for the daily specials and any dishes not listed on the menu – they're often the highlights! From fresh salads bursting with flavor to perfectly grilled shrimp, each dish is crafted with care. The lamb cooked in white wine sauce and the lamb in tomato sauce are both exquisite; you won't want to miss them. And don’t forget to save room for dessert; they are the perfect sweet ending to an unforgettable meal.

Read moreWe stumbled across this wonderful Taverna on our last day, and it was the most amazing experience of our entire trip. We were hosted by Babis, who explained that his mama was in kitchen cooking, he brought out an array of beautiful fish caught that morning by his brother, and that all the vegetables had been grown by his father nearby. The food was INCREDIBLE, the best Greek salad we have ever had - local cheese too! Babis’s wife and children were amongst us as well as their family friends all enjoying themselves. We felt immersed in their culture, all that you dream of when visiting a country. A totally authentic experience, overlooking the sea, a sleep on the beach at the end! It was just perfect and we will dream of this place until we can return...
