While visiting Rhodes, I stopped in Afandou looking for some proper Greek food. I have Greek roots but grew up in the U.S., so when I’m in Greece I’m always chasing those traditional flavors I remember from family gatherings. Bon Viveur really delivered. There were six of us, so we ordered a little bit of everything to share. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend the prawn saganaki, the grilled octopus, moussaka and youvesti. We ended with baklava, sweet and sticky with plenty of nuts—definitely worth saving room for. Portions here are generous and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. The atmosphere is what you’d expect from a Greek taverna: simple, welcoming, and unpretentious. The staff were friendly without being pushy, which made the meal feel relaxed and comfortable. Read moreOne of the few disappointments on Rhodes island. We were a little suspicious when saw only one table occupied when arrived, but decided to try different restaurant waving great experience with the others located nearby. Firstly the manger was trying to advert the restaurant & food beng little nervous, which never is a good sign. Many meals which were in the menu were not present. The aperitifs and 50ml vodka we ordered definitely were not exact ml, being vastly familiar with quantities. Secondly the fried zucchini was shockingly small portion for 8 euro, as you can see on the photo. meals although not so bad were smaller and not as tasty as you can get in the other Afandou restaurants. In summary: put this place in the last of you short list if you visit the village. Update: The price for the zucchini was for sure 8 Euro as soon as I can...

There is a bar inside the restaurant for those who want to go all in. If you come from Rhodes city, take the bus to Afandou village. You can also go to Afandou beach, and from there take a lovely 15 minutes walk into...
