Caldera Taverna Bar — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Since we were staying at the Romantza Mare hotel, we often walked past this taverna (we heard that hotel guests even get a discount). Our curiosity was sparked by the live music on Thursdays. The menu is very diverse, and we had also heard that this is the place to try the best moussaka on the island.

We started with cocktails — I highly recommend the one called “Bananana.” Then everyone in our group ordered something different. The lobster with pasta was delicious, although there aren’t many options to try the lobster in other styles.

We had a nice meal here, nothing to complain about in that regard. In terms of service: it wasn’t very busy, yet it still took quite a while before someone came to take our order. The main course followed 10 minutes after we received our starters, so we couldn’t enjoy the starters at a relaxed pace. The drinks were also only served with the main course. We had barely finished our last bite of the main course when they brought the complimentary fruit plate, and not long after, the bill was placed on our table without us asking for it. Nice setting, but lousy Greek food everything that we ordered was pretty much below par actualy one of the worst we have been to. It seems that the kitchen has given up on cooking and everything is coming out of a container. The Tarama was a thick paste glue, fried Haloumi was tough and not cooked properly, ervice was good, even the Greek salad was below par and it's quite difficult to get that wrong.
