Honesty is everything. I asked for an espresso of which the price is clearly mentioned on a blackboard (€1,5). I gave €2 and said I’d also take a bottle of water (mentioned on the blackboard for €0,5). He said it was €1 for the water and I had to give extra. It was clearly on purpose because I referred to the blackboard and he kept saying €1 on a certain intonation to put pressure. When I said no and someone else working there came and clarified it was 1,5 and 0,5 so the €2 I gave them was correct, his body language was clear, didn’t look at me anymore, didn’t say anything anymore, felt uncomfortable. It’s a small amount of money, it’s not the end of the world, but everything starts with honesty. Tourists might not speak the language but they are not stupid.
