Unfortunately, our visit to Alexakis Taverna in Moraitika was marked by a series of unwelcoming attitudes from the staff — something we didn’t expect, especially considering the restaurant was nearly empty at the time (only two tables occupied, around 4 p.m.).
Upon arrival, we were told we could sit anywhere we liked, but as soon as we chose a table for four (we had backpacks with us), we were immediately questioned whether we were actually four people — in a rather unfriendly tone. The waiter then said there was no point in changing tables since we had already sat down.
We ordered two club sandwiches and, just in case, an extra portion of fries, as we didn’t know the sandwiches already came with a side of fries. None of the staff took the time or courtesy to inform us, which resulted in an unnecessary and avoidable extra dish. A little attention at that moment could have saved both waste and cost.
While we were still eating, one of the staff members began collecting the ketchup and mayonnaise bottles from the other tables. When he reached ours, he picked them up as well, and I asked to use the mayonnaise before he took it away. I used it quickly, but even so, he took the bottle immediately afterward — without saying a single word throughout the whole interaction. The lack of communication and basic courtesy was very apparent.
Additionally, the prices are considerably higher compared to other restaurants and bars in the area, which only adds to the sense of poor value for money.
On a positive note, one of the women on staff was kind and polite to us, unlike the two men who served us, who clearly lacked patience and displayed a rather unfriendly attitude.
Overall, the experience fell well short of expectations — mainly due to the inattentive and unpleasant service. We do not recommend this place and will not...
Read moreOur family of three came to eat pizza, but the charcoal grill tempted us to order souvlakis (skewers) 3 times. Sign of warnings were obvious: as we stared 2 skewers rolling in grill and sipping beers and water, after 35 minutes we were brought 2 gyros plates which we rejected of course, confused staff could then find the proper customers for those. They had forgotten our order, and 3 skewers were then put to grill by the master. The man did not want to say anything about how long it takes, wondered 30-45 minutes ourselves, but he was locked to attitude not to admit any mistake. We were the only people this summer who could not wait for food in a taverna, maybe try fast food! This drama queen attitude forced us leave, and by request we paid the drinks. Usually mistake by the house leads to at least one sorry, and maybe some little compensation. About the food itself we cannot say yes or no. The tavern is absolutely no. The travelling singers...
Read moreOnly thing we got served here were dirty looks! The service is awful! We got our menus snatched from us.We anticipated the food would be better than the service however our food was not cooked very sanitarily. Our server which was also making food at the small grill in front of the restaurant wasn’t washing his hands. After touching money and cleaning surrounding tables he returned to the grill and began sticking toothpicks in our souvlakis. After touching the souvlakis (raw chicken) he came back to serve water and drinks. The presentation was nice but we were completely disgusted and nearly lost our appetite. I would recommend doing your research because the service here left us highly...
