We ate at the Family Tavern last night and oh my, the food was incredible. They served the most delicious Feta with honey I’ve ever had. It was beautifully cooked in Kataifi with black sesame seeds. Their homemade bread was to die for and the salad and dressing, while so simple, was divine. The eggplant soufflé was hearty and between my partner and I, just these dishes were enough. It is incredibly animal friendly; I was very pleasantly surprised to see a few cats there being treated like part of the furniture, more like part of the family, instead of being shooed away. Even more impressive is that they were all sterilised, and the owner came over to talk to us about the cats with great enthusiasm. Absolutely lovely family - father and son do the drinks and service, and the mother makes the delicious food behind the scenes. The owner recommended some meat dishes for us for our next visit - I’ll stick with the vegetarian options but my partner is very excited to try the beef fillet steak. After our dinner, we went to the quaint garden area to have another drink, where I was given a massive measure of Tsipouro (only expected a shot size glass!) They really made us feel welcome. We were very sad and shocked to be the only table there. At 10 pm some customers rolled in, but I must say this restaurant is not getting the attention it deserves. 10/10 recommend that everyone goes here, you will not be disappointed.
We will be back very soon. I’ll be dreaming of that feta...
Read moreWOW! Okay, I dine out a lot around the world, and I'm still trying to catch up on reviews. But I have to put all of them aside for this gem, so my partner and 4 year old son decided to take a trip to Corfu for a quick break but decided to do all inclusive, which is okay but I wanted to do a restaurant for our final night as sort of a special date night. Not knowing the area we turned up late at night (10:30pm) to a restaurant that appeared to do authentic greek food. The Family Taverna is exactly that of a family run restaurant run by husband, wife and son. We were welcomed in and presented with the menu which gave a great choice of Greek food and I was torn between the lamb moussaka and the steak but was reassured by the son that if I liked steak then I would love this. All I can say was it was the best quality meat perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, Not only was it massive (well worth the money) but I would go as far to say it was the best steak I have ever eaten. Not only that the service by the family when our son fell asleep was truly lovely and made our night. They built him a bed out of chairs and cushions and explained that when their son was young they had done the same for him, which was really sweet. My partner had a lovely prawn dish with garlic bread, which she loved.
Please take my word on this if you are in this area of Corfu and you read my review please visit this gem you...

For the longer readers: This year, we visited this family-run taverna for the second time. They opened just last year (2024), and it’s already become one of our favorites 🏆. As the name suggests, it’s a traditional taverna, run by one family—with the men taking care of the service and the mother as the chef 👩🍳.
After walking through the flowery garden , you’re always greeted with a warm welcome. Grab a local Corfu beer 🍺 or try one of the many well-known local dishes 🥘. We personally love sharing both: a starter and dessert every time we visit.
What we tried and highly recommend:
