Went to find a nice place to eat on my birthday and got lost, luckily stumbled across this place. The food was amazing as was the wine. The hosts were so unbelievablly welcoming and friendly from the second we walked in. We are English with very little/no understanding of Greek. No problem at all. Any questions we had were answered and explained to us. I can honestly say that this has to be the most friendly and welcoming reception I have experienced before. The whole evening was excellent. If you're thinking of stopping here do it, you won't regret it! A lovely little place with amazing authentic, home cooked Greek food and hosts that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Thanks to the whole team for a lovely evening. Again if you looking for some authentic Greek food go here! You'll get that and you'll get the most amazingly lovely people cook and serve it to you. 5 stars...
Read moreIf traditional Greek food is your thing (it’s definitely mine) then Mama’s tavern is a great option while you’re staying in Moraitika on Corfu Island. Mama’s is a family-run restaurant just off the main street and was warm and welcoming, it really felt as though we had walked into someone’s home. The service was incredible and staff couldn’t be more helpful in helping us to choose a dish based on their experience, which I must say was spot on.
The thing that I really liked about Mama’s is that all the vegetables they use are grown in their own garden and were super fresh, they also made homemade apple jam which was quite possibly some of the nicest jam I have ever tasted. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and a couple of glasses of red wine and to top of a great evening under the Greek sunset - the customary shot of Ouzo with the waiter, just about as...
Read moreOur expectations were high considering the reviews. But the food was very disappointing. The chef had yet to come from home. We had the Soffrito and Pastitsada. The Sofrito was served with rice and lots of gravy around it. There was very little taste. We had eaten this dish several times at other restaurants, compared to Mamma's, Mamma's was bad and way too expensive for some rice, a few pieces of meat and lots of gravy around it. The Pastitsada was reasonable but this dish is also not in proportion to the price. The restaurant itself looks cozy with a terrace and the owner is friendly. Too bad expectations were high but we will definitely skip this from now on. Fine for a nice drink, but I would advise...
