Taverna Savvas: Traditional Taste and Top-Tier Service Our recent visit to Taverna Savvas was truly outstanding, particularly given the size of our group (12 people). We are happy to report that this traditional taverna not only lives up to its reputation for delicious food but also excels in providing impeccable service.
Exceptional Service for a Large Group - The staff and service at Taverna Savvas deserve special recognition. Despite our large party size, the team was highly attentive, efficient, and exceptionally quick. Read moreI recently dined at Savvas Greek Restaurant, and it was a thoroughly disappointing experience. The service was nothing short of atrocious. Despite the low prices, which might explain some higher reviews, the overall quality left much to be desired.
First, the food was incredibly bland. Greek cuisine is known for its vibrant flavors, but Savvas failed to deliver on this front. The dishes lacked any distinctive taste, making the meal feel like a chore to get through.
Moreover, the treatment we received was quite frustrating. While the tables around us were offered complimentary watermelon, we received nothing despite ordering a significant amount. When we inquired about this, the staff claimed they had run out of watermelon. This turned out to be a lie, as we saw plates of watermelon being served to other tables as we were leaving.
Additionally, we had to wait an excessive amount of time for our bill, only to find an extra item that we hadn’t ordered. Although they did remove it when we pointed it out, this mistake further soured the experience.
In summary, the only positive aspect was the low prices, but even that doesn't justify the poor service, bland food, and dishonest treatment. I would not recommend Savvas...
Read moreSorry to say, terrible experience. I ordered a beer and two came, different brands. Told the young server and he said he already opened the second one and left it. Took forever for food to come. People next to us verbally took the server to task for how long it was taking.
We ordered a walnut and apple salad that came with two thin slices of apple and sparse walnut pieces barely visible (pic attached).
For entree, my wife ordered the shrimp with potatoes purée. It arrived with two small bites of spinach instead of the purée. When we complained that the menu stated the shrimp dish comes with purée, the server stated that the menu is wrong and walked away.
I ordered a vegetable linguini pasta. Hardly any vegetables, tasteless and bland. Typically served with mizithra cheese but this was not. Had to ask for it.
No bread offered even though other tables had bread. No dessert offered of any kind, complimentary or not. We went elsewhere nearby afterward for a little dessert.
I think the constant flow of tourists allows this place to survive on low standards and food quality. Sadly, this place falls below typical Syros establishments. We cannot recommend this restaurant. And a final note, the prices are too high for...
