Galissas Beach - The Perfect Syros Getaway Galissas Beach is truly a gem on the beautiful island of Syros, easily offering one of the most complete and enjoyable beach experiences in the Cyclades. It manages to perfectly balance natural beauty with excellent organization, making it ideal for all types of travelers, especially families.
The Perfect Beach Setup, The beach is characterized by its lovely stretch of soft, golden sand and the crystal-clear, shallow waters that are perfect for swimming. Many visitors note the gentle slope of the seabed, which allows children to play safely. The beach is well-sheltered, making the water calm and inviting, often described as having the clarity of a swimming pool.
Amenities and Vibe, What sets Galissas apart is the convenience. You have the choice of relaxing on the organized sections with comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas, or finding a quieter spot on the free section of sand. The area is backed by a great selection of tavernas and cafes where you can grab a cold drink or a traditional Greek meal without having to travel far. The atmosphere is consistently described as laid-back and peaceful, avoiding the rowdy crowds found at some other major island beaches.
Stunning Scenery, The surrounding scenery is also a major draw. The beach is flanked by the towering rock formation of Agia Pakou, where you can take a short, rewarding walk up to a charming little church offering breathtaking panoramic views of the bay, especially beautiful around sunset.
Galissas Beach is an absolute must-visit on Syros. It’s clean, well-equipped, naturally gorgeous, and provides everything you need for a relaxing day by the Aegean Sea. We highly recommend spending a...
Read moreBest beach in Syros, all-in-all, that's our opinion. Pro's: many sunbeds and umbrellas, prices according to the row and sufficient for one to find empty ones even without a reservation (in the high season this is a thing to think about in Syros). Cool bars, cafes and tavernas nearby - SAVVAS IS OUR FAVOURITE from those (very good eating there! 😉). Also, there is the nicest somewhat cooler, breeze un the island making it a little bit more tolerable even in the heat of mid-day in August. Last, but not least, the small church on top of the left hand side cliff overlooking the bay is a CHARM worth climbing to (not a hard climb too) Con's: it can get crowded here (and right away after 10 a.m.) ... but that's to be expected of a Greek Island in...
Read moreLovely. You do not have to pay for the umbrellas and chairs, just bring a towel, there is still ample room on the beach - although we prefer when sun beds are free in exchange for consumption, and there could be a little more space left for those who can’t afford that luxury. We paid 30 euros for two sun beds and an umbrella, but will simply put our towels in the shade when we visit next! The sunset is great, and it’s not too far of a drive from the port. Many colours of blues, glittering sand beach, sea through water. It’s busy but there were still sun beds around 1PM in a Sunday. I gave it 5 stars because it is inclusive and has a way to help elderly and handicapped persons to enjoy the beach through a...
