We noticed that the Greek patrons were getting their food first, regardless of what was ordered. People who came after us were served well before we got our food. A large bottle of water is put on your table without being asked, and a basket of bread likewise. These are all extra charge, and we had to ask for a small bottle as we were getting other drinks anyway. I pointed to the draft beer that cost 4 euros, and the server brought me a bottled beer that costs 5.50. These are all minor annoyances, but they add up to a really poor service and making extra pennies in a dishonest way. And in case you think this is common practice here- it is not. First time we got annoyed being treated in a disrespectful manner. The food was fine, but the server said there are no shrimp to be had with the barley risotto(the meny said you can choose between cray fish and shrimp), and so I chose plain risotto. Guess what? It came with, amongst other things, shrimp. We will not be returning. Maybe this is being counted on by the staff, so they can't...
Read moreAfter having a nice walk in Kavouri beach "Tripia Varka" is the restaurant you want to have a great meal! The spot is amazing and you can enjoy the fantastic scenery while you are having your meal. As it is located by the beach it is specialised in seafood/fish dishes. Everything I tasted was delicious and if I had to stand out some dishes they would be "Bakaliaros Skordalia" (fried cod fillet with tradition garlic-potato sauce) and "Gavros Marinatos" (small fish marinated/pickled in vinegar and various herbs/spicies). The personnel with their polite and helpful attitude built up on the whole experience. Finally the prices despite being relatively high are definitely reasonable, if you consider the high quality, the location and the whole atmosphere the place offers. I strongly recommend visiting Kavouri beach on a shiny day and at the end of the walk enjoy a meal in...
Read moreAfter spending the day at the beach, this has been the perfect restaurant to pass the evening. We enjoyed excellent food and dessert accompanied by delicious wine while watching the sunset across the ocean. Although most of the sea food was frozen before, in terms of quality and taste it was probably the best sea food we had in Athens during our one week stay. The prices are more than fair as well. Also, the staff was extremely kind and polite. When we asked if we could buy some of the unbottled wine to take with us, they even filled it into water bottles and gave us one extra...
