We went to Zen Beach today; the beach itself is very beautiful. Nice sand and a very picturesque water color. The parking is 10 EUR, which is fine. Apparently we came too late for sunbeds (12:00). There were some empty ones, but they were reserved. It was fine for us we just laid down on the sand. Now the sad part of my review - I have worked in restaurants prior, so I know what it means to work understaffed, in stressful situations etc.. but.. no smile? Nothing? Not even a little excuse that no one felt responsible for bringing us some water etc. eventually a waitress threw menus on our table and left again. It took a while until she returned to take our orders. Surprisingly food arrived super fast as, you can see, that food is being served by other waiters who really run to be fast! Food was only ok. You pay for the location. We didn’t receive an invoice, the waitress only told us how much to pay. She said 59,50 but when we checked later on, she charged 65,45. That means she charged 10 % tip even though we didn’t want to pay tip as her service was awful. All in all, I would return but bring my own snacks or food as the unfriendly atmosphere in the restaurant is not worth it and I think it’s a scandal when you give someone your card and they charge you more...
Read moreThis is the second time I’ve been to Vouliagmeni (came September 2021). We are a group of 4 friends who always go to Zen beach, we have been to all the local Beach bars and Zen is by far the best for bed comfort, staff and food (better than Astir for us). We walk here so I cannot speak about parking. The staff are attentive enough, ideally they would hire 2 more people however I have seen them training new staff these past few weeks. Also they have installed a call button now on the beds so perhaps no need for more staff. Prebook/call if you want sunbeds, the costs vary depending what row you want. You get given a thin blanket, there are toilets/showers and a lifeguard on duty should you need them. You may consider it expensive, you can always go to Akti down the road, you get what you pay for. The beach area on either side of the bed area is for public use, you may still buy ice creams, food and drinks from Zen beach bar. Food is delicious, especially the...
Read moreWe have been going to this beach for many years and eating at the taverna. 2 weeks ago we went and I wanted to order a plate of grilled sardines which cost €18 euro. In the past I have asked them to change the side of rice the sardines come with for some boiled vegetables which they have always happily done. This time though the female waitress said I can’t do that and you will have to order a seperate side of boiled vegetables at the cost of approximately €13. So she wanted me to spend €30 euro on 10 small grilled sardines and some boiled vegetables. We chose as a family to not spend €120 euro for lunch and just ordered a coffee instead! The previous manager George was a great guy but it looks like he has left and current management don’t care, customer service is the success of all businesses, and it clearly lacks her as the waitress...
