Taverna Melissa Grande Bee — Restaurant in Municipality of West Mani

My vehicle was mistakenly parked on the property associated with this restaurant. Rather than simply informing me of the error, the owner deliberately obstructed my vehicle's exit by parking a truck directly behind it. Despite my repeated apologies and an offer of a small amount (€5) to compensate for any inconvenience – a sum I considered reasonable given nearby parking was free – the owner refused to move their vehicle. The situation escalated as the owner became verbally abusive and began demanding payment to allow me to leave. These demands rapidly increased from an initial €40 to a significantly higher figure.

Recognizing the nature of the demands and the refusal to resolve the situation reasonably, I informed the owner I would contact the police. In response, the owner reportedly enlisted two additional individuals who engaged in verbal intimidation, including threats. The situation was ultimately resolved only after law enforcement was contacted and intervened. Melissa taverna was a revelation. It is tucked away from the beachfront in Stoupa. Maybe for this reason it has to compete on quality. And it does so quite successfully. Not that the other tavernas do not offer very good food, but the Melissa is a notch above. We had 5 different dishes and each and every one was excellent. Service was extra polite and timely. Along with the bill we were offered yoghurt with grape sweet, also a really good and generous treat. Very unpleasant experience – not recommended

We recently dined here, and unfortunately, everything was disappointing. The food was bland, lukewarm, and lacked any authentic Greek flavor. The staff was rude and made us feel unwelcome.

The worst part came when we tried to leave. We had parked in the restaurant’s lot, where there was no sign indicating any fee. Suddenly, someone ran after us demanding €10 for parking. When we questioned it, they became aggressive and even started banging on our car window.

This ruined our evening. We won’t be coming back – definitely not...
