Great traditional Greek food. I've been to quite a lot of Greek restaurants on a couple of different islands and I must say that this restaurant comes very close to the best experience I've had. The Gyros meat was well-seasoned and had the nice grill taste as you expect from it. Some pieces of meat were a bit chewy though. The tatziki was nice and the onions were great. The additional potatoes / fries / frites were as expected and done the right way, like in snackbars in The Netherlands. There was no additional sauce for the frites though. Tatziki doesn't fit so well with frites though it was a nice twist, but there wasn't enough tatziki on the plate to cover the gyros as well as the frites. So I ended up having too little sauce for my frites. The bread was a welcome addition and very nice overall. The drinks were as expected and the glasses were okay. No ice cubes included though. The glasses were clean overall. The view from the table was great. I wasn't allowed to sit in the first section of the restaurant though, as I was told that was for 'hotel guests only' which was kind of rude. The area wasn't nearly full and hasn't been full the entire time I was there. The staff was overall very friendly and I was very surprised by a staff member that was able to speak Greek and German fluently. As well as quite a bit of English. Another staff member had promised to make a picture of me and my family in a minute or so, but didn't do so in the end. Probably because he forgot, it became quite busy after we arrived. But this does make the experience a bit less than expected. We received a starter for free, which consisted of bread and butter. The bread basket had been nicely decorated and included our cutlery in a nice paper cutlery bag with wipes. Nicely done. The table had a paper cloth over it which was mounted by clips. Unfortunately, these clips were cheap and somehow jumped off the table at least three times before and during our dinner. This wasn't too frustrating but surely worth a mention. When asked for a portion of frites, the waiter immediately knew about mayonnaise. It's typically Dutch to eat those two together so I was positively surprised by the waiter's quick response. In many restsurants on the island of Corfu they didn't know about mayonnaise at all. That's a nice plus. After our dinner and before the bill I received a delicious bowl of chocolate mousse. It seemed to be part of their standard restaurant recipe, just like the bread basket. The chocolate in the mousse was quite strong but I didn't dislike that at all, the sweetness greatly accentuated the bitterness and it was great in retrospective. Overall, I had a great dinner. That's why I'd like to provide this restaurant with this rating. I hope it reflects my...
Read moreWorst restaurant I've eaten at in ages. The service is cranky (only nice to its German guests sitting there) and the food is to cry about. We ordered a pizza that was badly, badly burnt. It didn't even have tomato sauce on it. Italians would cry!!! Classic case of a 'tourist trap'. I would say go and enjoy one of the other, small-scale restaurants on the same street. 100 times better.
1 star for the sweet cats that...
