Anatoli — Restaurant in Skopelos Municipality

This is an August peak season review.

I am lucky to stay regularly near this venue, but despite the hard work of staff the restaurant is a victim of its own location and struggles with the high demand.

Tonight we waited over an hour for our meal, part of which didn't arrive*, so I shared the kids' meal until my dish arrived after they had finished.

The green salad was good. The kids' fried shrimp were fresh, large and deep-fried complete with shell and head. It looks good but I don't recommend eating the shell, so the crispy coating is wasted.

*My fried chicken pieces arrived 30mins after the family meal, and were not enjoyable on their own (unlike a good souvlaki) and sat in a plate of oil. They didn't taste interesting.

Here there seems to be an underlying expectation for customers to know exactly what else to order to complete their meal. Do ask for an opinion, because NOT EVERYONE KNOWS.

However, the staff work in a stressful situation and don't have any time to talk.

I think the business would benefit from reducing table numbers to make it manageable and a happier atmosphere.

We occupied a table for over 2 hours to eat a 1 hour meal! That's not right.

First thing you should know is: MAKE A RESERVATION. This is a beautiful location in the island that pretty much everyone in Skopelos wants to visit. Save yourself the trouble of waiting forever for a table and make a reservation so you can enjoy your evening comfortably! You have to climb quite a lot of stairs to reach the restaurant but the view from up there is breathtakingly rewarding. The place is very nicely set and decorated and the atmosphere with the live music is super enjoyable. It is generally packed so the service tends to be a little slow but there's so much to look at around and pass the time that we certainly didn't feel annoyed by that. I advise you get there before 9 to enjoy the sunset and the light before it goes completely dark. The food is good but not extraordinary. It might be the dishes we chose but the final combination came down to a full stomach for a very okay price. I wouldn't recommend this place as the best meal around but it's a lovely...

Tourist trap, overcrowded, understaffed. We had reservation from the day before and our table was in the middle of the restaurant so I cannot say I appreciated the view either, I had to look into a wall. Then service was chaotic which is understandable considering the place was packed but I just hate seeing people sitting after me getting their order and drinks and food before mine. Then bread that nobody asked for was added in the bill and on the table. We ordered two waters cause we were five thirsty people and got one. When asked about the second one they told us "we want to keep it cold for you" which I thought was nice at first but then that water never came even after we asked for it. Then I guess due to miss communication between the waiters we got one extra water in the bill which tbh I didn't care about that much, but my company has less tolerance and got upset, which upset me and created tension. Then we had to wait forever to get the bill and overall...
