We were first seated at a waiting table near the entrance with the promise that we would be moved as soon as another table became available. Several tables did free up during our stay, but instead of moving us, the staff seated other guests, leaving us at the provisional table almost the entire evening.
The service throughout was very unfriendly and unhelpful (except the young waiter). The lady boss came across as impatient and almost hostile. This was a major disappointment and set a negative tone for the whole experience.
The food itself was fine — neither particularly impressive nor bad — but given the high prices, it did not stand out or feel worth the cost. The restaurant presents itself as fine dining, yet the quality did not match the pricing. The only truly excellent dish was the tiramisu dessert.
Adding to the poor service, we noticed that other tables were offered a complimentary digestif at the end of their meal, while we were not. This small detail made us feel even more unwelcome.
The strongest part of the evening was the atmosphere: a beautiful setting in charming Greek-style alleys, surrounded by flowers and pleasant music. The location was a bit hard to find, but once there, the environment was truly enjoyable.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant mainly for its atmosphere. The food is average, the prices high, and the service extremely unfriendly. Unfortunately, the staff did not know how to treat us properly, which overshadowed the otherwise...
Read moreFabulous. If in Skopelos town you must search Anna's out, though it's not too difficult to find as there are many small signs on various allyway corners pointing the way.
Beautiful courtyard with lots of room and even when busy, which it usually is, there's a feeling of space and intimacy.
The staff are attentive and friendly and the food is to die for. My partner chose the Archestratos chicken which was cooked perfectly with an amazing sweet and sour dip unlike anything we've tasted anywhere. There's such a wide choice I asked the waiter for his recommendation and without hesitation he suggested the pork fillet saute with proscioutto and sage and spinach potato puree which was just amazing.
The desert was a big scoop of vanilla ice cream with the most fabulous crispy melt in the mouth baklava which is simply heaven on a spoon.
We had the house white which was very reasonably priced and rather good.
You could pick this restaraunt up and put it down in any major city and it would be mobbed. Best of all it's really not expensive, with 2 bottles of wine it came in at €58 though you could spend more or less if you wanted.
Just go there or miss some of the best food you will...
Read moreA bit disappointed after reading all the good reviews. This place is not very cheap so expectations are set accordingly.
First visit: We ordered grilled tuna and grilled swordfish. The former was amazing but the latter was quite dry. Our order was misunderstood and we were served two portions of tuna, one of which was then returned to the kitchen.
Second visit: Our starter was not delivered to us until we asked, our waitress said there was a misunderstanding in the kitchen. We were later served a delicious complimentary dessert for this delay.
We ate paella and shrimp pasta. The paella should not be allowed to be called paella. Instead of rice it was some kind of polenta and the texture and taste were not good and not at all reminiscent of paella.
The shrimp pasta was rather oily and devoid of taste.
At no point during this visit were we asked if our food was to our liking before we had finished the meal.
The ambience is really nice, it's quite and romantic. Too bad the service and food do not...
