We got a table inside after being assured there would be AC and a pleasant atmosphere indoors. The heat within the shop, the fact one of us had to sit in a chair between two doors that were moving along with the waiters that hectically moved around, the distractingly loud music, the other customers trying to shout over the music to hear one another, led me to a headache induced whinge. That was by no means intentional, I went in with the highest of expectations But the restaurant is very obviously over capacity, in both kitchen and service staff, and yet they rent out neighboring sidewalks to put more tables The waiters kept spilling the wine on the table, around our glasses, would pick up and take away plates without asking if we were done with them, would take forever to listen to summons of any kind- understandable when you're full, but to a certain extent. After ordering to a waiter that spoke rather abruptly (again, given the workload it's not odd, they were obviously incapable of handling that many tables with that small a staff) we waited over 50 minutes for our pasta to arrive The annoyance building up from the wait was further enhanced by the fact the plates did not arrive at the same time, with as many as 12 minutes difference between main course meals being served. It's common courtesy to serve all customers at a table at the same time. Apparently a courtesy lost. The food was solid , if priced a bit above average- but the rest of the night does not by any means excuse that. The loud music, terrible heat within the store, the carelessness of the staff, pretty much everything can be attributed to an attempt to fit as many customers as possible, without actually caring about their experience. If you are to visit do so when it's empty. If you want to book a table, ask about how full it will be beforehand. Bad management focused solely on making as much money as possible in the shortest time span should be reserved for tourist shops and other such places that are priced accordingly. When you price and present a certain level of quality, you have to deliver. And sadly it did not by...
Read moreVery nice atmosphere, in the entrance of Chora of Skyros.
The staff was polite and friendly, although the waiter who took our order did something unprofessional - he recommended a dish out of the menu (fresh skorpina fish with red sauce orzo) without mentioning the very high price, which was 50€. Someone might wonder, why didn’t you ask for the price? Well, as a professional waiter you have to take care even of the stupid customers 😅.
The house white wine was very decent, the welcoming bread was tasty and warm, the steamed mussels were juicy and tasty and the (expensive) orzo fish dish was very good. The grilled salmon with vegetables (costs 19€) was NOT good. I think they should prevent us from ordering it, since it was not fresh.
I have to mention that it was a very nice gesture to bring us single-use towels in hot lemon water to clean our hands and also the fact that they brought us bottles of mastic liqueur and limoncello to enjoy for free.
45€/person. Not recommended for seafood, I would revisit to try the pasta and...
Read moreThe place has a nice atmosphere and decor but food is not living up to expectations! The main problem is quantity of ingredients. The Caprese pizza was supposed to have Bufalo mozzarella which is usually a fresh round ball of mozzarella (big or small) placed on top. Here there was none! The waiter explained that it is small (tiny) pieces that meleted. This is grated mozzarella not bufalo! The Papardelle with chicken and porcini had only a few tiny pieces of both! The spaghetti di mare had seceral empty shells on it. Overall not what was expected from a nice looking...
