The food here was absolutely fantastic — easily some of the best we’ve had on our trip. Portions were generous and fairly priced. We ordered the prawn pasta, which was cooked beautifully in a rich bisque; the sweetest, most perfectly crisp sweet potato fries I’ve ever tasted; an incredibly fresh and delicious salad; and a perfectly executed crème brûlée. Even my girlfriend’s parents — both retired chefs with very high standards — were impressed, and that’s saying something!
However, the service sadly let the experience down. We booked by phone earlier in the day for the later sitting. On arrival, service was clearly running behind (which we didn’t mind) but there was no organisation — some guests queued patiently, while others walked straight in and were seated ahead of those waiting. This resulted in a couple who arrived after us being seated and served food before we had even sat down.
We were eventually given, in fairness, the best table in the house with stunning views over Golden Beach. But when our food arrived, my main course was missing. After waiting around 5–10 minutes, I asked the waiter, and after another short wait, I was told there had been a mistake in the kitchen and my dish was only then being prepared. By the time it arrived, everyone else at the table had nearly finished eating, and it was served on a different plate from the rest.
We booked for 9:15pm and didn’t start eating until after 10:30pm, leaving just before midnight. As this was our last evening of the holiday, and given the restaurant’s excellent reviews, we had been looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing on the service side.
While the food was delicious, I would have expected some form of gesture — even a small discount — to acknowledge the delay. Instead, when asked at the end how the meal was, I explained the food was excellent but my main came out extremely late, and it was more or less shrugged off.
We have tipped at every restaurant during this trip except here, purely because of the service. I think we were unlucky, and under different circumstances this could have been a five-star experience. But for us, the lack of care in addressing the issue meant it was a 3-star...
Read moreWe had dinner at Utopia in Panagia village. I ordered the stuffed calamari and my wife had the linguini. The food took a little while to arrive, but the stuffed calamari was worth the wait — flavorful and well-prepared. However, my wife’s pasta was underwhelming. It looked and tasted quite plain — more like a simple tomato and cheese pasta you’d make at home, rather than something you’d expect at a restaurant with these prices. On top of that, it was served a bit cold, probably because it was held back to match the timing of my dish.
The staff were warm and attentive, which we appreciated. That said, a small suggestion: wine shouldn’t be refilled when there’s still half a glass left. It’s better to top it up when the glass is nearly empty — it feels more natural and less intrusive.
For dessert, we tried the crème brûlée. At €12, it felt overpriced. The entire dessert was cold — both the custard and the caramel top — which made us feel like it was just taken out of the fridge and served without proper preparation.
Overall, a bit overpriced for what it offers. The lovely view and the kind staff helped balance the experience, but there’s definitely room for improvement in both presentation...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this restaurant for almost 3 years, and every time I was impressed by the taste of the dishes, everything was delicious, well-cooked, and truly special. It used to be one of my favorite places, and I always came back with pleasure. However, this year I had an unpleasant surprise: the menu was completely changed due to a new chef. Unfortunately, the dishes no longer have the same quality. The prawn pasta I ordered was bland, with no sauce, just a few prawns, and a much smaller portion than before. Even the complimentary item from the house has changed, it used to be a delicious dessert, specific to the place, and now they bring you a small glass of onion soup that doesn't taste good. The fish roe salad was extremely sour, almost impossible to eat. That being said, I have to mention that the staff is very friendly, and the location, atmosphere, and view are truly beautiful. Unfortunately, the food is no longer at the level it used to be, and I can honestly say it’s far from being the best. I’m sorry to say this, but the culinary experience that made me return is now gone. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be...
