Amalthia Seafood Restaurant — Restaurant in Volvi Municipality

We went to this restaurant on our last time in Nea Vrasna, Greece, which is 2km from Stavros, with the intention of having wonderful time with fine food and fantastic service. The service of 2 out of 3 servers was great, the food was excellent, the 3rd boy had 0 social & customer skills, for sure must be retrained.

Octopus, eggplant, tomatoes, fried fish were all great.

We enjoyed ourselves the whole time until the lady brought us the bill and when we gave our Platinum American Express card, as trip advisor website said that this particular restaurant accepted American Express cards, that lady said, o, we don't accept American Express. But that was the only reason why we chose that place and because we read some reviews of how wonderful they were. We left that restaurant extremely disappointed and felt cheated. The whole evening was ruined just because they lied that the accept American Express card. We have a budget that allowed us the last several places we ate or purchased to be only with American Express card. What if we didn't have other form of card nor cash? If you love fresh seafood, this place is an absolute treasure. The menu is a celebration of the sea — from perfectly grilled sardines and delicate sea bream to wild-caught sea bass and the most flavorful red mullet you will ever taste. Every dish arrives bursting with freshness, cooked simply but expertly to let the natural flavors shine.

What impressed me most is the variety and quality — you can try everything from anchovies and scorpion fish to rare Mediterranean catches you won’t find anywhere else. The sea bass was among the best I’ve ever had: light, healthy, and packed with flavor, it melted in the mouth.

Overrated and overpriced. The stuff was polite and shrimps in mustard sause were delicious, but this is the only good thing. It's not worth the hype. Portions were too small like we are on degustation, not to have actual lunch. Too expensive, we paid a lot, and stayed hungry. One dish is about 20 euros and this is without additional potato or other vegetables, so for example, if you order sardines, you will get only 5 pieces of sardines with one slice of lemon, which is ridiculous. I haven't see that anywhere in restaurant. I believe that you can eat for that money way better in Stavros. Sardines were bad, octopus nothing special. The guests looked too fancy for this place which looks like cabin in the woods, some od them looked at us unpolitely, so we wanted to get out as soon as possible.
