This is definitely the worst gyros experience I’ve had in Greece. I went twice, the first time the man asked me if I want everything inside and I said yes. I got dry bread, a single thin triangular slice of tomato, a big scoop of onions, an even bigger scoop of potatoes and a mediocre amount of meat. That’s it. No tzatziki, no ketchup, no mustard. The meat was actually okay, but the gyros was so dry that I literally couldn’t eat it. It was terrible.
I thought they made a mistake so I went again.
I watched closely as they make it this time and noticed they don’t put any regular toppings if you don’t tell them to. When I made it clear that I want all the toppings that a gyros usually has, the man who makes it seemed irritated and proceeded to put a scoop of tzatziki onto one part of the pita bread, so carelessly that he didn’t even bother to spread it a bit. This time he put less onion, but considerably less than the first time, so less to the point that someone who likes onion would have to ask for more(he put two slices). He put a single slice of tomato just like first time and then he skipped on ketchup and mustard so I reminded him to put those as well after which he looked quite irritated again and gave me a glare, literally. He stared at me for a second like I was being rude.
After paying I noticed that the price was higher than the first time and then I learned that tzatziki is paid for additionally. They charge it 30 cents and that’s not even a problem honestly but at least ask people if they want it before proceeding not to put it at all.
I’ve been to Greece many times, I went to Athens, several places in Chalkidiki, I went to Crete and more. NOBODY charges tzatziki extra. Everywhere I ate a gyros, the ingredients were the same and usually very generously put.
This is hands down the worst gyros I have ever tried. Dry, no tzatziki, one slice of tomato, too much potato + you have to pay extra for tzatziki.
There are other gyros places in Stavros and very close to this one where you can eat a good gyros with all the ingredients at no extra cost and where people will welcome you and make you feel at home.
My honest suggestion is to AVOID MOUSTAKAS at all costs. I’d personally rather stay hungry than give them my money.
Sorry for the long post, I feel the need to guide people away...
Read moreWe went here for a quick bite and while it looked pretty full we instantly found a seat. The staff were lightning fast and very attentive. All of us had the Pork Gyros and agreed the meat was incredible. Very well cooked and seasoned and the portion is mostly meat and not a lot of chips, which is always great to see. However the actual size of the gyro was definitely a bit on the small side and honestly left is a little bit hungry. I would still recommend because it did taste fabulous but be warned if you're very hungry you might want to go for two gyros or order the plater as it is...
Read moreThe guy who made our takeaway pork gyros pitas like 20 minutes ago this night, was very rude to us. He said he could not speak nor English nor German. And in the end, he laughed at me that I’m not fluent in German, just in English as a tourist. ( so he could speak both languages) I’m so sorry for just to be able to ask for food in German language. I used to work in a similar place for 6 years, and I have never been rude to...
