Restaurant & Cafe — Restaurant in Zagori Municipality

We stayed a couple of nights at the end of August as part of our Epirus Adventures. It is an excellent base for exploration of all the wonders of Zagoria. What a beautiful hotel and restaurant in a fabulous setting. We were given a wonderful welcome by Dimitri, the owner, and Lambros in the restaurant..., all the staff were wonderful. We were shown to our beautiful room which had its own balcony. Superbly decorated throughout and the fabulous bathroom was immaculate. The room had so many little extras which made it feel like a home away from home. We were given all the information we required personally which was lovely. The restaurant, situated in the next building to the hotel up the hill, is excellent and the food was so delicious. We had 2 superb evening meals and the breakfast was a really good buffet with many homemade delights! Drinks were made for us and brought to our table. I tried mountain tea for the first time and it was lovely. |We really didnt want to leave, it was so beautiful and peaceful, and wished we'd booked for longer. I can honestly say it is the nicest place Ive stayed and we have been to so many places in Greece. Greek philoxenia at its best,...

Hotel Ameliko is run by two gentlemen, both of whom were very friendly and helpful. We were invited to join them for an evening meal which we gladly accepted. They didn't have a menu but said what they were planning to make - roasted vegetables and Greek salad for a starter, and giouvetsi for a main course. One of our party is a vegetarian but our hosts said this was no problem, they'd make him something special - this turned out to be stuffed peppers which he really enjoyed. Almost all the food came from the hotel garden and the food was in the top 5 most delicious meals I've ever eaten. The bill was an almost comical €8! We did also drink plenty of beer and wine however, for which the bill was a slightly expensive €57. Overall though €65 for food and drink combined was excellent value. The room itself was clean, the beds comfortable and the shower excellent. There was also free parking on the street, which in such a small rural village in Greece required no security. This area is magical, and so is this hotel. I spent a lot of time researching Zagori. I was intrigued with the beauty of the area. I had asked a couple of questions on Trip Advisor about the best central location to see the sights. This town was recommended and so I found the Ameliko. I always appreciate reviews that show the care of the hotel and staff. Detrimi was amazing, but so was all the staff. The highlight after a long day was going to the restaurant. Lambrose was the best. We enjoyed spending the evening with him and his service is 5 star. I appreciate all the detail the hotel has thought of. Such a wonderful experience, you will not be disappointed...
