Klontiraki Fish Tavern — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

I usually don't review restaurants but I felt compelled to do one now. I ordered the Souvlaki maybe it wasn't the best idea in a fish themed restaurant. It took them ages to prepare the food and the restaurant was pretty much empty. When we finally got the food, the fries were raw and the we didn't get any tsatziki, no sallad either. So we had to send the food back, so more waiting. After about an hour we could finally eat. The food was alright and we were compensated with watermelon afterwards. So I guess they tried. But the reason I'm writing this review is because I'm currently lying in bed with a fever due to food poisoning. That was the first meal I had that day and the symptoms started a few hours afterwards so it was definitely their food that caused it. During the drive back to our hotel I got painful headaches, later on during the night I got chills, cramps, fever and finally diarrhea. Yeah so the last days of my vacation are ruined. Close to Makris gialos beach, this nice tavern offers a good variety of fish, local and fresh. We met a guy who kindly informed us that we had to wait a bit for eating, by the way we waited and I say for sure that it's worth the waiting. We ordered greek salad, chicken souvlaki, fried octopus and anchovies. Let's talk about the salad, true, tasteful with so big pieces of tomatoes, just close your eyes and let the taste come to your mind. The fried octopus was fresh and light, chicken souvlaki perfect cooked and the anchovies were delicious.. the position is for sure amazing, giving an escape on the bay, where you can look at the different colours of the sea and be gently touched by the wind. I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately, everything fell below expectations. It started with an extremely long wait time, both to place the order and to actually receive the food – it took over 15 minutes just for someone to come to our table.

When we finally ordered, the waiters were disorganized, brought items we didn’t ask for, and seemed confused throughout the service. The food was poor in quality, lacked flavor, and some dishes even felt reheated or hastily prepared.

To top it off, we received a wrong bill at the end, with extra items that we didn’t order. It took additional time and explanations to have it corrected.
