Porto Mela Restaurant Dafni Beach — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

This place is highly overrated and the overall rating of 4,8 as I am writing this is ludicrous. The food I ordered was mostly decent or mediocre, except for the chicken filet (dry and tasteless) and the fresh baked bread (hard as rock). The food is more expensive than the average restaurant, but this was to be expected as the location is quite nice. The personnel was mostly friendly.

Most strickingly was the horrendous quality of the cappuccino I ordered, which was by far the most disgusting coffee I have ever had (the restaurant's owners should be deeply ashamed). The ground coffee was burned, leading to an extremely bitter taste. The foam was brown and sour, which led me to assume the coffee maker hasn't been cleaned for days. TUTTO MERAVIGLIOSO Eravamo stati qualche giorno prima alla confinante "TAVERNA BELMARE" e abbiamo deciso di tornare sulla stupenda spiaggia di Dafni ed affrontare l'impervia strada per arrivarci per ben 3 volte, dato che per raggiungere Porto Mela abbiamo seguito le indicazioni per Dafni ma siamo arrivati agli altri 2 o 3 ristorantini presenti (con recensioni tutt'altro che invitanti) e abbiamo dovuto tornare indietro i scendere dalla strada giusta con la indicazioni per "TAVERNA BELMARE" e "PORTO MELA" , dopo aver letto le numerose recensioni positive sulla taverna Porto Mela con altissime aspettative. Siamo arrivati nel pomeriggio, per l'ultimo bagno prima della partenza, una volta lasciata l'auto nel parcheggio privato di "Porto Mela", abbiamo "parcheggiato" zaini e asciugamani sui lettini gratuiti messi a disposizione per i clienti e nessuno è venuto da noi a pretendere che consumassimo anche solo una bottiglia d'acqua. Al momento della chiusura della spiaggia ci siamo accomodati ad uno dei tavolini della locanda e subito il proprietario ci ha accolti e ci ha consegnato i menù per la cena. A questo punto, vedendo che si era liberato un tavolino meglio posizionato per goderci il tramonto in una delle spiagge più belle di Zante, chiedo senza alcuna pretesa di poterci spostare e Dimitris spiegandoci che quel tavolino era già riservato "risolve" la situazione prendendo un terzo tavolo e posizionandolo in pole position vista mare!! Abbiamo ordinato due orate alla griglia servite con un contorno misto di insalata e patatine fritte (unica nota negativa), mezzo di vino bianco e mezzo di acqua. Durante l'attesa ci è stato offerto, come usanza di Porto Mela, un cestino di pane caldo fatto in casa e una passata di pomodoro con un pizzico d'aglio e origano (credo). Poco dopo sono arrivati i due piatti e sempre lo stesso Dimitri con simpatia e gentilezza ci ha spiegato che se avevamo bisogno di una illuminazione migliore avremmo dovuto arrangiarci con i nostri smartphone perché troppe luci artificiali potrebbero disturbare le tartarughe e i loro cuccioli che la notte potrebbero trovarsi sulla spiaggia. Una volta divorati i due pesci (buonissimi) ci siamo presentati alla cassa dove il totale del conto era di 30€, WOW.. Devo dire che Porto Mela non ha tradito minimamente le aspettative, per cordialità, gentilezza, simpatia, professionalità, qualità del cibo, prezzo e l'atmosfera garantita dal mare stupendo è stato il miglior locale di Zante in cui...

Next, about the restaurant, we ordered musaka, tzatziki, chicken souvlaki, and Greek wine. Musaka was really great, also the hot fresh bread with tomato pasta for starter stole our heart. But the chicken souvlaki was just OK in taste and we got only 1 portion, when typically in other restaurants for the same price people get 3 portions. Also at the menu first was written pork souvlaki (3 portions) for 6 or 7 euro and the next position at the menu was chicken souvlaki for 9 euros! So I think it was reasonable to expect to get normal, standard portion. It was a real disappointment.

The toilet was also quite ugly and old, not a...
