AWFUL EXPERIENCE!! A friend and I came to this restaurant whilst on holiday. We had to sit ourselves as No waiter would acknowledge us and informed one of the waiters where we were sitting. It took around 15 minuets for said waiter to bring us menus. It then took around 30 minutes for somebody to serve us. Food came out pretty quickly after this except one dish was missing. We informed the waiter twice that we were missing a dish and he just nodded his head and dismissed us. The dish still hadn’t arrived for the duration of our meal so we just thought let’s call it a day and just pay the bill and leave (we were there for around an hour waiting and asking for this dish to be served). The food that we were served was no triumph and was cold on delivery to the table. When trying to pay the bill I couldn’t get the attention of any waiting staff and had to approach him when he was getting drinks from the fridge. I’d asked him if I could pay and again he just nodded his head and walked away. Eventually I had to walk into the kitchen from behind the building to finally get someone’s attention. When paying the bill I tried explaining that one of the dishes in the bill wasn’t served to us and the woman taking the payment just said “we forget” (although we did remind them it hadn’t come multiple times). Overall I’d avoid this restaurant food is not that great and waiting staff are awful and rude. Although if you are interested in being completely ignored and being spoken to like mud by pre pubescent waiting staff then crack on...

This was not a great dining experience. The service was fairly awful. One waiter did not say a word when he did our service - table cover/food serving/drink serving, which was a bit strange. The other server was friendly but spent absolutely ages talking to the couple behind us (this would not have been a bother, but we were waiting to pay). The food was fairly bland - a plate of whitebait did not have any side salad or anything, for example, yet was a main meal. The calamari was nice and so were the boiled courgettes. The two main issues were waiting about 15 minutes for calamari after everything else had been served, to the point the chips were getting cold and also waiting to pay for the bill forever (around 30 mins). We must have asked 2 or 3 times and the non-speaking waiter nodded each time but continued serving other tables. My girlfriend was eventually led into the kitchen to pay on a dusty card machine near the chef, where all the food was being cooked. (Found out the calamari was probably so slow as looked like they literally had two fryers, one for chips and one for everything else so couldn’t do our white bait and calamari at the same time!) Didn’t feel particularly hygienic to have members of the public entering the “kitchen”. Wasn’t very busy so dread to think what it would have been like on a non-Covid busy summer holiday evening! We would not recommend this...

Good food for the price - but terrible service including long waiting times and incomplete orders (at leat in the evening in peak season).

We were there in the evening, and it was full to the maximum capacity. The waiters were not very coordinated, stressed, and no one felt responsible for certain (and our) tables. We waited at least half an hour to place our order, and when the food arrived our wine was missing. No wonder, because in the end we realised the chef of the kitchen herself came to take our order because no one else felt responsible. The food was good, and the price as well, good value for the money. But the service was just terrible. In the end, we went to the front to pay directly (we expected at least another 30-40min wait until a waiter would check on us). To our surprise, we were lead directly into the kitchen(!) to pay - we were standing right next to the chef handling pans. The staff is fully vaccinated, which is a huge plus, but paying where the food is prepared is just so unhygienic - especially when every customer has to pay there during an ongoing pandemic.

In conclusion, I would not recommend going there in the evening, at least in peak season. Maybe during the day is better, when the staff is less stressed. I hate to only give two stars, because the food was good. But considering the overall experience, a two star rating...

If you’re in Zakynthos and close to Psarou, you must go to Porto Roulis. This isn’t just a taverna—it’s an experience. It’s a beautiful, family-run place where the food is cooked by the sisters, the mum, and the brother. Everything is homemade and filled with love. It honestly feels like you’re sitting in your family’s kitchen, waiting for grandma to bring the next dish. The location? Unreal. Right on the beach. You can hear the waves, smell the sea, and enjoy delicious wine while the owner sings Greek and Italian songs playing his accordion. Pure joy. My fiancée and I ended up drinking a liter of white wine, some grappa, had an incredible orata fish, amazing Greek starters, and the olive oil? Just wow. You’ll want to take it home. Don’t go expecting fast service—this isn’t a rush. It’s a moment. Imagine your mum or nonna cooking for you—you wait because you know it’s going to be worth it. Same here. Few places in the world give you this kind of feeling: the sea, the food, the music, the family atmosphere. Go. Enjoy. Take it all in. 💙🇬🇷

There’s lots of places people claim are the best fish on the island but this is genuinely the place for fish. The road entrance into the restaurant is not super welcoming but once you’re past the building sites it opens out on to a sea front car park and a charming little family run restaurant (for apparently over 30 years) looking out onto a small cobbled beach. The menu just lists fish by the value bracket (A,B,C & D) but when you ask about them they’ll take you to the kitchen and show you all the fresh fish and let you pick and tell you the price there and then so there’s no surprises. We shared one large fish between us and it was amazingly filleted, a lot less small bones to deal with and amazingly cooked, I’m not sure how they seasoned it but it was incredibly tasty. We also had the courgette balls/fritters and saganaki and they were great too. There’s a couple of places that do really great sea food but this is the best of all we’ve tried.

We found this Taverna by accident when out driving around whilst on holiday. Had the fried calamari for lunch and it was so good we decided to come back for an evening meal 2 days later even though it was an hours drive from our villa. Beautifully situated right on the sea, a no frills down to earth restaurant that does the most amazing fresh seafood. You pay by the kilo and choose what you want from the cold drawers in the kitchen. We had the calamari again as our appetiser and then chose 10 large prawns for our main. They were so good we ordered another 6! They were prepared beautifully with shells off and poop chutes taken out and seasoned to perfection. The hostess and her staff are wonderfully welcoming and all in all it is well worth the drive for the best seafood we've tasted in a very long time. Could literally have sat and ate them all night!
