Los Cebollines • Cayalá — Restaurant in Guatemala City

This is a joke of a "Mexican" restaurant. We ordered Tacos de alambre de res..As far as I know they have to have cheese, hence the "alambres" name. (Please correct me if I am wrong). When we asked about the cheese, they said that it would be extra. We were shocked!!! Then we ordered the Molcajetes!! Another joke of a dish... It had 4 shrimps, 4 pieces of meat, 4 pieces of chicken and 2 slices of cheese. The real molcajete is served with enough meat ingredients, enough to feed 2 and even 3 people.. I had to let my wife eat it all by herself and just stole a shrimp from her. The molcajete (a bowl made of stone) is supposed to be boiling!! That thing was warm. Bottom line, I will never, ever visit this place. I expected way, way more of the restaurant, especially that is located in Cayala, a very trendy place. Slap...

This place is so bad. I was staying at the AC Marriot and was expecting this restaurant to reflect the area. I was stunned how bad it was. To start with I ordered a bottle of red wine. The waiter came out with a bottle of wine that I don’t even recognize. I asked for Cabernet and he said the bottle that he gave us tastes like cab. I don’t even think he had tasted wine before. There was no other options he said. I should have walked out at that point. Decided to stay. After the food was served, he did not even checked us back. No water or napkins either. When the bill came I told the waiter that I was disappointed at the service. The guy who brought the check was not our waiter. He said that there was a change in staff, but the original guy showed up after we left. Stay away...

We order to carry out but many of the items were overly fried, the wings were sweet. It’s ok if you’re hungry but I’m disappointed because their steak dishes used to be fantastic, I don’t know what happened- Sure this is many moons ago. Still, the ambiance in-house as we walked by seemed to be nice, a bit noisy maybe, but overall it didn’t impress me, sorry Cebollines, but I know you have a great following, it’s just that your menu isn’t exactly for everyone, you might like...
