Casa Escobar...Paseo Cayalá — Restaurant in Guatemala City

One of the best dining experiences of my life. Dollar for dollar the best by a mile. We were there tonight, for early dinner as sun setting. Sat upstairs balcony. Amazing attention to us. All items were beautiful and tasted even better. Had garlic bread, beef croquettes, broth starter, salsa trio, bottle of wine, steak with corn and cheese potatoes, and the tres leche style coffee dessert. We had to use google translator app to have side discussions (like that Snake River Farms beef is where we are from) but they welcomed it and we took turns conversing with no problem.

The check with card didn’t allow a tip to be added so that had to be cash. Which was no big deal. Don’t know if that’s an intentional thing or standard thing so probably shouldn’t even include this piece. Just thought I’d say… You are going to want to tip them so be...

They were quite pricey and didn’t get much of the meal correct. I do like the broth they give you to open your palette. It’s a nice flavor. The chorizo and other sausages sampler was alright. They did not give me the right soup. Said it was the one I ordered but it had dairy so I know it wasn’t. After waiting 7 minutes for someone to come back I got up and asked someone to see a menu to make sure I ordered the right one... anyways once someone came they took it and still charged me. Then they tried to give me the right soup togo. Too expensive for that quality. They weren’t busy. We were there for 30 minutes and it was still 30 minutes from close...

Excited for a nice night, my friend and I were seated outside on a cold night. The staff accommodated us with a heater but it was still too cold to sit out so we requested to be moved inside, our first initial request. We were told there was no space after asking twice. After we witnessed 3 different groups of people go inside we decided to get up and ask again and then we were taken upstairs where there was plenty of tables. For 1 hour we were left out in the cold night air and told there was no tables inside. Unfortunately the tip was already included, something that they did not deserve due to lack of service....
