I recently returned to Honduras after 13 years, and one of my favorite restaurants from that time was Linda Mar. I was delighted to find that the restaurant was still in operation and decided to visit after all these years. However, I was surprised to discover that the service had changed dramatically. The security guard was polite, but unfortunately, the waitstaff was not. From the moment I entered, the male waiter looked at me as if I were an oddity, making me feel discriminated against. I waited about 10-15 minutes to be seated.
I ordered the Linda Mar soup for three people, and when they asked if I wanted a salad, I said “Yes.” However, they only brought two salads, making it seem like my 8-year-old daughter didn't exist. I ended up giving my salad to her and requested another. The same issue occurred with the water.
After finishing my meal, I asked for the bill and noticed they had automatically included a tip. I crossed out the tip, marking it as 0, and left a $10 tip in cash for the waiter. When the check came back, I noticed the waiter had an odd expression, so I paid close attention to the bill. To my surprise, I was still charged the tip, even after I had marked it down to 0, because I was tipping in cash.
I asked for the tip to be removed, and the lady explained that the service charge was applied because I signed the bill. I clarified that I had crossed out the tip because I intended to pay in cash. Eventually, she returned the $10 to me. It's disheartening to see that their service has declined to the point where I felt...
Read moreDefinitely one of the best places in town for seafood. However, it is quite expensive… I would even venture to say unreasonably so. Although the quality of the food, the service, and the location are all good… none of the above are exceptional. What you’re paying for here is consistency, and a name. They could improve the menu with a wider range of offerings, or improve the interior design of the dining areas to be more comfortable/aesthetically pleasing… either change would make the high prices...
