Calavera — Restaurant in Budapest

We visited Calavera on Saturday evening, November 23rd, and unfortunately, what was once a favorite spot, turned into a very disappointing experience.

Upon arrival, we had a booked table for two. However, when we kindly requested to be seated at a different, more private small table, we were forcefully squeezed between other guests, where clearly all Guests would have benefited from having some space around. Throughout the evening the requested table remained unoccupied.

While the food and drinks remain top-rated—truly deserving their glowing reputation—the experience was deemed by the behavior of the staff on the floor. They appeared bordering on rude, and we even noticed them laughing at us at one point, which left us feeling uncomfortable. To cap it off, they refused to acknowledge the discount code we provided, dismissing it with little to no discussion. While the discount was not the primary issue, the dismissive attitude left us feeling disrespected.

Having been loyal customers who have visited the restaurant on multiple occasions and recommended it to family and friends, this latest experience has left us speechless. We hope this was an isolated incident, but it has certainly made us reconsider our...

So first off, this restaurant absolutely takes card for payment.

With that said, very spacious restaurant with indoor seating only. Very expansive menu for both drinks and food.

What came out was fresh and presented very well and tasted great. Looking at the description of the vegetarian burrito I ordered, I expected to get a tortilla filled with beans, cheese and vegetables. It sounded good so that’s why I chose it. However I was disappointed to find that my burrito was actually just a tortilla filled with vegetables and cheese sprinkled on top. It tasted good but I stopped after one (they give you two burritos) because it wasn’t what I wanted...

Még soha nem éreztük magunkat ennyire kellemetlenül egy vendéglátóhelyen sem. Szombat, 23 óráig van nyitva. 21:30-kor fényerő hirtelen a felére csökkent, a zenét lekapcsolták. Az utóbbira rákérdeztünk távozáskor, elvileg nem működött, néma csöndben ült 4 asztal. Talán még el is hittük volna, ha esetleg 21 óra után is odajön valaki megkérdezni, kérünk-e még valamit, ha már üresek a poharak. Ehelyett a fémpénzek csörömpölését hallgattuk 21:10-kor, ahogy a kasszát számolják. Innen jelzem, hogy finom jelzésnek nem éppen nevezhető, ha mindezeket összeadjuk. Rendíthetetlenül kitartottunk egészen 22:15-ig, amikor megkaptuk a számlát. Jeleztem, hogy még kell nekünk 20 perc, akkor jönnek értünk, mivel úgy tudtuk, 23 óra a zárás időpontja. Válaszul jött, hogy semmi probléma, addig ők úgy is zárnak. Nyilvánvalóan sem konkrét megerősítés, sem tagadás nem érkezett a zárás időpontjára vonatkozóan. Egyáltalán semmi probléma azzal, ha egy hely 21 órakor zár, sem azzal, ha 18 órakor. A zárást a Tulajdonos/Üzletvezető határozza meg, kérem, gyakorolja ezen jogát megfelelően. Ha én a munkaidőm utolsó másfél órájában ignorálnám az ügyfeleket, és telefonoznék az asztal alatt, úgy gondolom, nem lenne már munkahelyem. Én nem azt mondom, hogy a vendéglátás könnyű szakma. Csupán csak annyit, hogy szerencsénkre a választás lehetősége még adott, és válasszon magának mindenki olyan munkát, amit becsülettel el tud látni. Ne másnak okozzon kellemetlen élményt. Valamint sokkal bevállalósabb és korrektebb lett volna behazudni egy 21 órás zárást, mintsem ilyen kicsinyes játékokat űzni. Vacsorázni ide csak az menjen, akiről az ezen fajta szándékos...
