Tisztában vagyok vele, hogy Magyarországon ma nagyon magasak az árak, de arra nem számítottam, hogy négyen egy átlagos vacsora után 84 270 Ft (≈ 214 EUR) lesz a számlánk (lásd mellékelt számla). Az elmúlt hónapokban nyolc európai országban jártam, és sehol nem tapasztaltam hasonlót.

Ami a leginkább felháborító: a 15% szervizdíjat automatikusan rászámolják, és erre még ÁFA is jön. Ez nem szabálytalan, de teljesen aránytalan. Például a bor: 4 dl 3 960 Ft (≈ 10 EUR), vagyis 1 dl ≈ 990 Ft (≈ 2,5 EUR). A szóda és az ásványvíz ára gyakorlatilag azonos volt, ami szintén érthetetlen.

A kiszolgálás sajnos rendkívül rossz élmény volt. A pincérek túlterheltek és kimondottan bunkó stílusban kommunikáltak. Velünk volt egy csendes border collie, aki az asztal mellett feküdt, senkit nem zavart. A pincér mégis ingerülten ránk szólt, hogy rakjuk arrébb. Sem víz a kutyának, sem takaró a kültéri asztalhoz nem volt, végig az volt az érzésünk, hogy terhükre vagyunk.

Az ételek minőségével alapvetően nem volt gond, de az ár-érték arány vállalhatatlan. Miután kifizettem a számlát, reklamáltam. Felajánlottam: vagy adnak 20 000 Ft (≈ 50 EUR) értékű kupont, amit levásárolunk, vagy kénytelen leszek negatív értékelést írni. Először a főpincér jött, aki csak a számlára mutogatott. Aztán egy öltönyös menedzser kínált fel annyit, hogy lehúz két ásványvizet – amit természetesen visszautasítottam, mert a probléma nem pár száz forint volt, hanem az egész rendszer.

Szeretném hangsúlyozni: soha életemben nem adtam negatív éttermi értékelést, soha nem küldtem vissza ételt, és nem reklamáltam hasonló helyzetben. Ez volt az első alkalom, mert az élmény ennyire kiugróan rossz volt.

Összességében: az ételek jók voltak, de a kiszolgálás bunkó, az árak irreálisan magasak, a szervizdíj rendszere pedig átláthatatlan és aránytalan. Senkinek nem ajánlom.

I know prices in Hungary are very high, but I never expected that four of us would pay 84,270 HUF (≈ EUR 214) for a simple dinner (see attached bill). In the past months I’ve visited eight European countries, and nowhere did I see anything like this.

Most shocking was the 15% service charge automatically added, plus VAT on top. Not illegal, but absolutely unfair. Example: the wine – 4 dl for 3,960 HUF (≈ EUR 10), meaning 1 dl ≈ 990 HUF (≈ EUR 2.5). Soda and mineral water cost almost the same, which makes no sense.

Service was very poor. The waiters were clearly overworked and openly rude. We had a quiet border collie lying by the table, bothering no one. Yet the waiter brusquely told us to move him. No water was offered for the dog, no blankets for outdoor seating – it felt like we were a burden.

The food itself was fine, but the value for money was unacceptable. After paying, I complained: either give a 20,000 HUF (≈ EUR 50) voucher to use later, or I would write a negative review. First the head waiter pointed to the bill. Then a manager in a suit offered to remove two bottles of water – which I refused, because the problem was not a few hundred forints, but the entire overpriced system.

I must stress: I have never written a negative restaurant review, never sent food back, never complained in such a way. This was the first time, because the experience was that extremely poor.

In short: food was fine, but service rude, prices outrageously high, and the service charge system non-transparent. I cannot recommend...

The service at this establishment was woeful. We waited for 90 minutes for food, 50 minutes for dessert, and over 1 hour for water and drinks - they forgot the water but chraged us anyway.

Even when we asked for the bill it didn't come out within 15 minutes. It was very clear from the moment we arrived that the staff didn't like our group - We have discussed it since in length and we simply cannot understand what we did wrong. Our attire was acceptable, and we conducted ourselves respectfully.

Sadly, the food was actually pretty good, it's a shame that the staff are so horrible.

The members of our party ate daily with only positive customer service experiences at many local and tourist restaurants all over Budapest and Europe for 6 weeks. For this reason we can't in good conscience recommend this establishment. Csalànosi Csàrda Óbuda is a horrible restaurant - spend your money...

We had a group booking consisting of 38 people. We came during Dinner time. We had the famous Hungarian Goulash in Csalánosi style, Grilled Chicken with Mushrooms and Sour cream, and Dessert: Sweet Temptation. The Food was very delicious, and the presentation was excellent. The Staff was accommodating and welcoming. They offered help with everything, and the service was speedy. The infrastructure of the restaurant is beautiful. As it's located on the Buda side, it is not very far from the city center; however, it took us 20 mins to reach back to the fashion street (Incase if you are thinking of bringing a group here, please note the bus cannot fit on the same street the restaurant is located, so you might need to walk 5 mins). It's one of the best Hungarian restaurants I have ever been to; I will surely be back...
