I want to share a story with you about Da Bao Jiazo Zi. It is one of the most famous and delicious restaurants I have ever eaten however the last two times I was there the lady who served us (probably the boss) was rude and unhelpful. I asked them what kind of frozen gyozas they have and she replied to me rudely, also she looked down on me. After having decided which gyozas I wanted to buy. However, she could not explain it and got mad at me, which I don't know how come. I reckon English is a must in Chinatown. I started to speak in English but she appreciated neither. In addition to this, when I got to the cashier she demanded the money furiously like I had done something wrong to her. She started yelling at me like what my problem was angrily. It was so embarrassing and disrespectful, my parents are a frequent gyoza buyers at this place and every time they encounter this old-fashioned pokerfaced lady. I am deeply sorry that the truth must come out. The standard of this place is going down day by day. And the way she yelled at me is disrespectful! I don’t recommend this restaurant if you don’t speak Chinese. They are rude and disrespectful towards people who do not speak proper Chinese
Furthermore, the boss and her employees are not wearing masks as we are facing COVID 19 pandemic which kills thousands of people every day , in my opinion it is obligatory to wear a mask inside a restaurant as a policy. Today CDC (Centre Disease Control reassured me it is still a legislation and therefore this restaurant needs to abide by the law or face the consequences.
DO NOT COME THIS PLACE BECAUSE THE SERVICE...
Read moreThis is the place to eat Chinese dumplings (jiaozi) and good soup. At first, this is not a restaurant but a buffet. You go to the counter, check the menu, order, pay, then sit and wait. There are 3 tables for four and about 6 for two and the menu does not have 100 items to choose from. The place easily fills up; while we were having a lunch we saw locals popping in for take away, tourists and some foodies who knew what they wanted to eat.
Whatever you prefer add a set of dumplings to your order and share with your friend; if you are comfortable with chopsticks get the steamed one rather than the pan fried one and make your own dip (soy sauce and vinegar).
Simple beef soup (large bowl), fried noodles with fruits of the sea and one set (15 pcs) of pork jiaozi with a coke was about 17 EUR, paid in HUF and cash, they should accept card as well. Parking on the opposite side of the tram line on the street.
I am planning to come back in two weeks to take home couple of sets of dumplings and share it with the family.
Why the all 5 stars? This is a simple place so I had similar expectations: Chinatown feeling check, clean table to sit check, fresh and really good food check, have it on the table in proper order and quite...
