First of all the location: the Portre hotel is in the best possible location on the old town square of Koszeg. There is a large, beautiful and generally quiet car-free area for children to play while you sit outside the hotel for breakfast, dinner etc. Koszeg itself is thoroughly charming and quite possibly Hungary's most attractive town. It is an excellent base for exploring North West Hungary, and with around a dozen nice restaurants to choose from, a great place to stay in itself.||The hotel is small but very nice, the staff were helpful and the food very good. There is free parking for hotel guests in a small car park about 100 metres away, and fast wifi access. The staff speak basic English - enough to get by - but there was one waitress who had much greater proficiency for the slightly more complex issues. Most people here speak good German if that is a language option for you.||Our room was quite large, and was clear and well furnished. There was no air-con, but I think you'll struggle to find that anywhere in this area. Room service was okay - they looked after the bathroom but didn't make the bed (I didn't have a problem with that though). Breakfast was great - you get to choose hrom the restaurant breakfast menu and receive waitress service. Incidentally, I thought the menu was one of the best in Koszeg.||Overall, I thoroughly recommend the...

Read moreI know Portré - Köszeg for the last 5 years now. Each time I visit the in-laws in Köszeg, we always decide to return to Portré for our family gathering. This restaurant is an absolute no fail in town and probably is the reference for hanging out with friends & family. They deliver a large variety of pizza and main courses covering hungarian dishes & italian/mediterranean meals type. The staff is always helpful and considered to our requests. They do their best to accomodate us to the best they can. It is such an enjoyable place, especially if seated by the patio overlooking the town square while having a chilled Staropramen or Koszegi Sör. If you are looking for a relax & cosy place for dinner, head to Portré you will not be dissapointed. Try to go there well on time to get a table, it comes really busy between the 18:00 - 21:00 time window during the summer holiday & weekends. Thank you Portré for all the meals delivered we 've had over the years, I ll be coming back next summer for sure. Keep the good...
