I've been here twice and have to say this is a seriously good cafe in Sopron. Very expensive compared to Hungarian wages but very good! If you're here you have to come here to try out the "flat white". Even in my current home town in Frankfurt am Main, this cafe would be in the top 3 citywide. Great job guys! Way to go!
Update after 8 months - 29.12.2022: The quality of the coffee is still very high, however the manual main entrance door was exchanged for an automatic one which let's the cold air into the coffee shop without any resistance and stays for several seconds open after somebody went in or out (I attached one picture of the door). Given that the winter is quite cold in Sopron this is not a very good idea. My suggestion would be to install a round curtain against the cold air next to the door. Until an improvement happens I reduce my rating by one star.
Furthermore, prices were increased by around 25% in the last 7 months. However, keep in mind that the "official" inflation in Hungary has been above 22% in the last 12 months and food inflation has been above 40%. I'm very happy to report that the quality was not reduced!
Update after 12 months - 26.12.2023: Price of the cappucino increased by 7,3% from 1.100 Forint to 1.180 Forint. Given the very high inflation in Hungary of around 18,72% YTD in 2023 this is still "very good". The coffee and service quality kept the high level! Congratulations for that!
On the other side prices for cookies and cake became ridiculously expensive. For a very small piece of "mákosguba" with average taste 1.680 Forint? looooool In the city centre of Frankfurt am Main it´s not as expensive as here although your salary/income is considerably higher than in Sopron/surroundings. Given the excellent quality of the coffee and service I won´t reduce my rating, however I don´t advise purchasing cookies and cake here.
Update after 7 months - 04.07.2024: The price of a cappuccino increased by 8,5% from 1.180 to 1.280 forint, however the owner managed to increase the quality of the cappuccino as well. They have installed a new water filter system and that seems to do the trick. Given that I'm ready to pay a high price for a very high quality, I've increased my rating from four to five stars. The pricing for a cup of water went up from 150 to 200 forint.
The service quality is still "good" which is already a good result because it is super hard to find reliable staff in Sopron. Of course there is always room for improvement, but so far so good!
Update after 9 months - 18.04.2025: Good news! The quality of the cappuccino is still very good! Price went up from 1.280 forint to 1.420 forint. This is unfortunately normal given the still high...
Read moreA gem in Sopron. This coffee house is very hipster... Reminds me of coffeehouses back in the States. You see young, old, students, and families here. Great place to meet up with friends or sit down and do some work. The service is great too! The staff speaks Hungarian, German and English. The coffee is great. It's nice and strong. You can't find different lattes like the States but that's ok. They have gluten free and vegan desserts which I don't particularly like (hence the 4 stars). They also have limited options for alcoholic beverages that I haven't tasted. Overall, Definitely...
Read moreExcellent. This is my favourite place for having a coffee in town — if you’re into industrial style, of course. They make great coffee (it’s a proper La Marzocco machine and barrister quality), equally serve some great bites (sandwiches, vegan cakes, etc) — vegan or vegetarian options included. All served in a lovely atmosphere with lots of industrial style elements; feels very welcoming. Service is always great, and on sunny days you can use their terrace outside and watch the stroll of...
