Remete Pince Étterem — Restaurant in Váci járás

We recently visited Remete Pince Étterem in Vác. The atmosphere was nice, and the food had its highlights, but overall the experience was a really mixed and in the end disappointing considering the prices.

The waitress English wasn’t perfect, which wouldn’t be a problem if the order wasn’t messed up.

The soup was really tasty, full of flavor, and one of the best parts of the meal. The fish was also fresh and well-prepared, definitely enjoyable.

On the downside, there was an issue with the order: we asked for potato halves as a side, but instead we were served French fries.

Unfortunately, the fries were pre-made, soaked in oil, literally dripping and felt out of place for a restaurant of this category. When you pay around 35 € per person (≈ 70 € for two meals), you expect a bit more attention to detail and higher-quality sides. They really destroyed the whole experience of the main dish.

Another surprising point was the drinks: the lemonade, which was water with not even fresh lemon, just some lemon flavoured acid, cost around 13 € per liter – which feels overpriced.

In short: • ✅ Soup and fish were very good • ❌ French fries were disappointing (oily, pre-made, not what we ordered) • ❌ Prices, especially for drinks, felt too high

The food is tasty, the price is fair, we sat in their terrace for lunch. Two things to be improved: First, the waiting time is too long, we waited 15 mins to be seated while there are visible free seats, more than 30 mins for our lunch even when it’s afternoon 4 pm, and when we wanted to pay, nobody was coming to give the bill, at the end we went to the counter for bill, after another 10 mins the waitress came to tell us “nowhere is free” without knowing we came for payment. Second thing is the restaurant charges service fee beside the amount on the bill. If the service fee is fixed, please show it on bill with percentage, if not fixed, it should depend on the customer. We had a great time visiting the Remete Pince Étterem. The food was delicious. He atmosphere is nice and the staff was kind and helpful. I gave 4 stars because we arrived at 12:05 and we got our meals at 12:55. I understand that they expect you to order appetizer so you eat something while your food arrives but we chose no to order anything but only our main dishes. We got extremely hungry until the food arrived. I recommend this place for people who want to have a nice meal for an acceptable price.
