By chance we passed the Elefánt Étterem restaurant in Veszprém and stopped in for a coffee. We order two latte macchiatos, an iced tea and a coke. The drinks came immediately and the latte macchiato tasted really delicious. The service was super friendly and even spoke German. We immediately got into conversation and were treated very warmly. A look at the menu told us that you could definitely have great food here. However, since it was afternoon and we were still full from our extensive breakfast, we decided to leave it at the coffee. After exploring Veszprém for a few hours, we decided to go somewhere to eat. The menu from Elefánt Étterem didn't let us go, so we went back to the restaurant to have dinner there as well. We were again greeted with a warm welcome and given a lovely table outside in front of the restaurant. It wasn't easy for us to choose, because all the dishes sounded really delicious. In the end we decided on gnocci with salmon in a creamy sauce, spagetti with prawns in a tomato sauce, garlic and rocket and a cordon bleu with fresh lettuce and potato wedges. We ordered the homemade lemonade to drink. The food came super fast, was beautifully presented and tasted divine. Really everything was delicious. For dessert we ordered the chocolate souffle with raspberries and the Hungarian bread pudding. The dessert was also incredibly delicious. We were more than happy that we had discovered the great little restaurant. So happy that a few days later we went back to Veszprém to eat at Elefánt Étterem. On the second visit we try the homemade burgers and the pork neck streak with potatoes, bacon and a homemade pickled salad. At the recommendation of the waiter, we even order the Hungarian delicacy sautéed pork brain on toast. This time we were not disappointed either. We can only recommend everyone to visit the Elefánt Étterem. The staff is consistently warm and friendly. Most even speak German. The food is just incredibly delicious, absolutely fresh and the portions are more than sufficient. Even very good eaters will be...
Read moreKind staff, lovely food, cozy atmosphere. We arrived spontaneously without any reservations, still managed to get an intimate and private balcony table with faint light. The attentive waiters warned us about the current peak time in the restaurant and that we might have to wait longer than normally. Nevertheless, service was fast and efficient. The menu was elaborately designed with wide range of dishes: soup, salads, bistro selection with street food, pizzas, pasta... The Aperol Spritz was refreshing, however I did not like the plastic straw in it. But this is the only negative point I can mention. You know, environment friendlyness starts with these little things and should be a decisive factor in choosing a place to eat. Still, we enjoyed our dinner so much, we even got to see a short improvised drama show, since at a point an idiot pedestrian started swearing at one of the poor waiters so loudly that everyone turned their attention to them. It was a comical intermezzo and we praised the waiter on handling the situation so calmly. Prices are also reasonable and the location is impeccable in the still, romantic, historical city centre. Highly...
Read moreGreat place alltogether, if You visit Veszprém definitely worth a try. The food had great textures, the chef specialised himself on that area, I liked it very much, although the spices could have been handled a tad braver. Maybe it is because not everyone likes the spicy food, and I didn't mean strong, but acids, vinegar, pepper, characteristic tatstes did had missed...
