If you’re planning on traveling the Ring Road around Iceland, you must make a stop at this incredible hotel and restaurant. We had the absolute pleasure of staying here for two nights, and it was hands down the best place we experienced in Iceland. It offers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and warm hospitality that feels more reminiscent of what you’d expect from North American accommodations, yet still deeply rooted in Icelandic charm.

While Iceland’s hospitality is generally wonderful across the board, this spot truly stands out. The hotel strikes the perfect balance between luxury and comfort without feeling pretentious. It’s warm and welcoming, not overly formal or snooty, which made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.

The hosts truly made our stay exceptional. Gunnar (Goonah), who manages both the hotel and restaurant, made us feel like family, going above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. And the bartender, Emilio, was simply phenomenal. He’s full of life and charisma, crafting excellent cocktails while being an incredible host himself. They both have a genuine passion for what they do, and it really shows.

We were genuinely sad to say goodbye when our stay came to an end, and we can’t wait to return. This will definitely be on our stay list the next time we visit Iceland. If you’re looking for a place that makes you feel pampered, cared for, and welcomed with open arms, this is it. Five stars, without...

One of the waitresses at the restaurant behaved in a highly unprofessional manner that stood out as quite unreasonable. When my friend mentioned that the cod was a bit salty but otherwise fine, the waitress replied, “Yes, it is a very salty fish—I should have told you earlier,” implying that my friend was unfamiliar with cod. This kind of response is completely unacceptable under any circumstances. It showed a lack of respect for the guest’s opinion, an unwillingness to genuinely acknowledge feedback, and a failure to address the issue. Instead, it came across as dismissive and even mocking, effectively shifting blame onto the guest.

As a result, the kitchen staff did not receive constructive customer feedback, since the waitress routinely deflected comments rather than taking them seriously. For public relations purposes, I would not recommend retaining such staff, as her attitude negatively impacted an otherwise pleasant dining experience. The rest of the team were polite and professional, which made her conduct all the more disappointing and unfortunately diminished the overall impression of the service. It was truly a...

One of the waitresses at this restaurant was so ridiculous and unprofessional that it was the most ridiculous response I've ever heard - when she asked my friend how everything was, my friend replied that it was fine, but that the cod was a bit salty. The waitress said "yes it is a very salty fish, I should have told you earlier" as if my friend had never eaten cod in her life. In any case and by any means, such statements are very unacceptable, no respect for the views of the guests at all, not open-minded acceptance of the complaints, not solving the problem, mocking the guests and putting the blame on the guest. The chef did not receive any valid feedback as all comments from guests were simply rebuffed by the waitress. Wouldn't recommend the hotel to hire this level of staff for PR reasons, other than her everyone else was very nice and professional, very sorry to say she brought down the overall quality of the staff. It's really a...

John Travolta's "Five dollar milkshake?!" scene in Pulp Fiction raced through my mind as I took my first bite of the cheeseburger. Limited menu but with creative and district modifications to the standard fare with some powerful flavors that were marvelously satisfying for some (like myself) and a little off-putting for our more particular eaters. Just read the menu and ask for the ingredients you want and you'll be fine, because it was just as wonderfully cooked as you could hope. The ambience was serene which made for a relaxing end to the day with beautiful views to enjoy along with the meal. The service was a little inconsistent as it became busier, but everyone's English was superb, they were welcoming and quick with refilling the (oh, so perfect) Icelandic tap water.
