Cosy restaurant in the heart of the town (but try to get a table upstairs!) with ample parking right in front Welcome was friendly From the menu we selected the grilled napa cabbage with lobster espuma, a beef bressaola, and cod with white cabbage followed by a reindeer pate. All food was exquisite in taste and well presented....quite exceptional considering the location of the restaurant Just two comments ....diners are informed that the restaurant offers a tasting menu of small dishes....fine.....but then all people at one table (even a party of four!) need to order exactly the same dishes "so they can share their experience"?......this makes no sense and is more something which assists the kitchen in preparing and serving the food.....on top it takes away the pleasure of sharing plates and comparing different dishes rather than everybody eating the same (this apart from the fact not all people dining together enjoy the same kind of food)...maybe something to reconsider ? The other thing we didnt understand was the information from the waitress (in her honesty!) that the reindeer pate also included beef meat?......just strange when ordering a reindeer pate Anyhow, this restaurant is definitely highly recommended to those after a great culinary experience whilst...
Read moreI wish I sorted the reviews by "latest" and not by the most accurate on Google Maps before my visit there. What other write is already pretty telling, but here's my 2 cents:
This place is a fine dining wannabe. Portions and prices are fine dining, but that's about it. We had a reservation for 8pm, had to wait 10 minutes for a table, which was "being cleaned" according to the waiter. After we finally sat, we had to wait another 10 minutes until someone came to get our order, followed by another 20 minutes before food was brought. We didn't get anything in the meantime, but it seemed that other tables at least got some focaccia (good for them).
Waitress explained that the portions of meals are like starters, but to be fair, I never had starters of this size anywhere else in my life. It was more like a sample portion. Baby gem and cod were absolutely microscopic. Lamb saved the day for our visit, because it was the first meal that made me feel that I actually ate something and it was really delicious.
Food was served on the cheap IKEA plates. I raised my dissatisfaction with the staff, but they turned my reaction into a joke and it changed absolutely nothing. Attaching the picture of "slow cooked cod" with hands...
Read moreCame here because of the good ratings. Food and services are both disappointing.I have ordered the “catch of the day” and expecting the dish would be as great as what I had in the past few days in Iceland but the dish came with some cold and sticky rices at the bottom. I asked the waiter if the fish dish normally come with rice coz I have never seen this in other restaurant and nothing is mentioned on the menu so I asked. He said menu changes everyday and asked me if there is anything wrong about it as if I shouldn’t even question. I have been ordering the same dish in the last 7 days at different restaurants in Iceland and NONE of them came with rice (let alone the rice was cold and are lumped together as if they have been staying in a rice cooker for days). Fish is just soso, dry and you can’t really tell it’s cod fish. After all, it’s by far the worst meal I’ve ever had in Iceland. Waiter needs more training on customer service - he didn’t bring us serving plates after we said that we are sharing the two main courses. Don’t come here if you want to have fresh and juicy fish dish I assure you will be extremely...
