Was first time travelling to Ajmer with colleague and wanted to try some of the authentic dishes of Rajasthan. Decided this place through local recommendations. Seemed a famous place among locals and, a full occupancy raised our level of expectations.
Ambience: dark ambience, certainly in a train coach with TV screen running landscapes on the walls (in place of window), that make you feel that you are actually taking food on the go.
Service: when you need the authentic and fresh preparation the service might sound slower. But outcome won't disappoint you. Patience is the key.
Taste: dish had missi roti, dal bati, gutta curry, rice-dal, garlic chutney, churma laddu. Overall, the food was not too spicy, but not too blend. It had all the flavors you would love to indulge in! Especially the bati had special stuffing with herbs, and was baked to perfection with coating of ghee. Garlic chutney and churma laddu was a perfect match! And accompanied the tastes very well. Even the gutta curry, up to some level accompanied the dal-bati, although it was best match with the missi roti. You must agree that milk products in Rajasthan are the next level, when you try the butter milk. Thick and creamy texture will soothe all the taste buds with salty & cumin flavor. Overall, all the dishes in the plate had a level of preparation.
Portion size: was there with a colleague, and we finished a single Rajasthani thali by sharing. A single thali is sufficient for 2 adults.
Price: a word authentic and originality costs something more than patience. Yes, the price is more than average and is towards expensive side.
Verdict: All you need carry along is an empty stomach with a full wallet. Honestly, the place had everything I wanted to indulge. A worth...
Read moreWhat a waste! Why has the owner appointed such people who are worse than an average street seller. They dont know what the customer is asking. even after spending around 1k, i couldnt get a simple jain food in which i had asked not to put oninons and garlic. Above this the rice served was stale and cold and had to tell them to reheat! And what they served was not basmati but a very low quality parmal! No service. Had clearly asked regarding whether other food will be of some better quality, and they just refused. One of them just laughed away that now since the food has been served nothing can be done! what a waste. what a waste. They told me that most of the items were made in the morning and then reheated according to customer. And the ones which i got was even not properly heated. Only thing hot was the hand wash water served in bowl. very unsatisfied with the service and food. I would recomend to stay away from this hotel, those who really know to cook and love to eat. Can you believe they said they cant give a simple dal makhani without garlic and onions, and refused to cook something specially for us, even after such a worse experience. It takes me hardly ten minutes to cook at leat dal rice. even that they refused. It was a complete mental torcher. I came to dine not to enjoy the ambience. please stay away! they should learn to cook from restaurants in front of the railway station. they are far far far better, and will cook right in front of you of your choice. not these loose professionals who cant serve. they know it, and are being dishonest by not correcting this attitude of...
Read moreFood:- (Good Looks, Bland Taste) I'd say Paneer Dosa would qualify for "good" food. However, it was a bit too salty. They said Punjabi Pizza would be Spicy and have Paneer in it. Neither was the case. Was it well cooked yes? But were the flavors apt? Honestly, it felt bland. Burger was bland, but fine for a kids meal. Please head outside for better burger spots if you're an adult with taste buds.
Service:- We had to wait for around 20 mins, it was a Sunday. I get it, peak hour busy times. The problem is, many items on menu were not available. The waiter said, "Sir, running me nhi ho payega" (It was just some Soya Chaap item :/). Bruh, if "running me chalne waala khana" was my thing, why would I pay 1300 bucks to come and eat at your fancy fine dine. No wet tissue / finger bowl at the end of service. Advice: If you're too busy, begin with reservations, get online on apps like District so that atleast people can get a table. Learn to refuse service if you can't take in more people, but atleast feed the ones who are on the table properly.
Value for Money:- (No) I've have been coming here since I was a kid. There have been ups and downs with the food quality, but the decline in service has been disheartening, adding to the fact that the food is not value for money anymore.
If you want classic North/South Indian, this place may be amazing, but I'm pointing the fact that they have put too much on the menu that they can't serve all...
