Cafe Salt Water — Restaurant in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

Date of visit: 28th December, 2021 (late lunch)

Cafe Salt Water is a place with a very peaceful ambience. It was good to sit and relax there while waiting for the food. We went for a very late lunch at around 4 PM. There were only 2 other tables occupied at that time and was very calm. We initially thought of sitting in their garden, but there were too many mosquitoes, which forced us to sit inside.

Forgot the exact name of the dishes we ordered. It probably was Chicken Barbeque Pizza and Peri Peri Fish. About the food, it was just okay. We felt it lacked flavor, especially because salt added was way too less (irony at Salt Water Café). We had to literally pour salt, chilli flakes, oregano and hot sauce into our pizza to get some flavor. It might have been a one off thing - but this was our experience.

Service was good, but it took a lot of time for the food to arrive. I read they make their own bread.

The place offers free Wi-Fi and payments are accepted through Google Pay also.

Verdict: Can visit once. We would like to visit once more to find out if it was just a one time...

Food is good. Everything they cook is wonderful except Pan Cakes. Also staff is very friendly and humble. Except for the lies they tell you to extract money.

For example, baking is very rare and difficult in havelock. So they charge you like ₹1000 for 200 gm cake. While there are quite a few restaurants who are baking much better and delicious cakes for a quite lesser price.

Another Lie i heard was regarding petrol. As per them petrol pump is not operational. Another scam being run in Havelock. ANIDICO Petrol Pump on the way to Radha Nagar Beach is operational, but works 7 am to 5 pm. So the staff might tell we can get petrol for you if required. But it will be like ₹100...

Café Salt Water is located at the centre of the busy stretch between Beach no 3 and Beach no 5 of Havelock, which makes it easy to reach wherever you have spent your lazy beach day really. The restaurant vibe is light and chill, with good music playing and also garden tables if you wish to sit under the open sky.

And what about the food? Food is kickass. Regardless if you are loooking for an all day breakfast, a light pastasalad for lunch or a burger for dinner, both the indian cuisine as well as their continental is amazing.
